Still early yet give them time to start making stump speeches on the campaign trail. They are just in the "raising money stage" right now. Things will turn when they start to get out there amongst the creep people. Personally I can't wait until they start attacking each other and having debates - then the fun begins and the percentage numbers start moving!!

Pure name recognition at this point. However, as soon as more people hear Lieberman's whiny, strident voice, they'll ask themselves if they want to be subject to that for four years and reconsider...

I wonder how tossing The Hildabeaste into this would affect the numbers.

I know it won't happen, but I hope GW lets Cheney handle his light work and have him debate Lieberman again. That was the most enjoyable debate I could remember.
(Paraphrasing)Lieberman trying to be funny and paint Cheney as a big oil guy "My wife is jealous of all the money you made last year.
Cheney:I can tell you that the Government had nothing to do with it (Ouchhhhhhhhhhhh)
Lieberman: Maybe I should try the private sector
Cheney:"I'm trying to help you do that Joe."(Owwwww).

will hillary let him run?
were I lieberman, my fear of the clintong syndicate, would insure that I did not get on very many airplanes, did not announce my schedule, and checked frequently under my wife's car before inserting the ignition key to start it...
Would the folks that gave us Vince Foster, who shot himself in the BACK of the head... and the wake for (hillary's competitor for 2004) paul wellstone, do Joseph Lieberman harm?
I think they would.
Goonsquads do what they do best... work for hildebeast.
fwiw...
I think lieberman is the ONE guy who could LEGITIMATELY give Bush a RUN for his money... especially if HE and Zell Miller were to try and RETAKE the democrat party...
It would be nice in this next election, if the furthest left we had to worry about were lieberman and zell... and the furthest right was bush/cheney/rice/rummy... (okay.. powell too).
Hildebeast is the liberals 'weapon of choice'... I would bet on it...

5% of registered democrats would vote for Al Sharpton to be President of the United States.
Scary.

This poll must be giving the DUmmy folks the Sh*t Fits. They really HATE Lieberman over there. However, I see NO WAY that Lieberman will be nominated. Remember, the one ANNOINTED by the Clintonista gang is Edwards. However, Edwards may flop simply because he is a lousy politician.

If only Bob Dole were running again.
Dole v Lieberman would be by far the most effective therapy for insomnia.

At this early stage, polls are nothing more than name recognition exercises.
I believe that hitlery will enter the race, and she has a good chance to be elected in 2004, depsite what the polls say now.

Vice Presidential candidates on losing tickets who then ran for President and won:
Franklin D. Roosevelt
(Yep, he's the ONLY one)
Vice Presidential candidates on losing tickets who then ran for President and lost:
Bob Dole
Walter Mondale
Rufus King (going waayyy back)
Vice Presidential candidates on losing tickets who then tried to run for President, but never even made it to the nomination:
Jack Kemp
Dan Quayle
Edmund Muskie
(These are just the more recent ones. There were others, shrouded in the midst of time, and mostly long forgotten.)
A failed Vice Presidential bid is an almost certain way to assure that one will never become President. FDR is the only one to have ever succeeded, and it is important to note that there was an exceptionally long hiatus of twelve years between his Vice Presidential and Presidential candidacy, and the nation was in unprecedented turmoil in 1932.
Now, by way of contrast:
Sitting Presidents who successfully stood for relection:
Bill Clinton (BARF!)
Ronald Reagan
Richard Nixon
LBJ
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Harry Truman
FDR
Calvin Coolidge
Woodrow Wilson
TR
Wm McKinley
US Grant
Abe Lincoln
Andrew Jackson
James Monroe
James Madison
Thomas Jefferson
George Washington
And then, sitting Presidents who UNsuccessfully stood for relection:
George HW Bush
Jimmy Carter
Gerald Ford
Herbert Hoover
William Taft
Benjamin Harrison
Grover Cleveland
Martin Van Buren
John Q. Adams
John Adams
Sitting Presidents retain their office about 2/3 of the time, on average.
Prognosis:
Lieberman has heavy odds against his even getting the nomination, and his odds of winning the national election are not good. In contrast, Bush is shaping up as the 2:1 odds on favorite for a 2nd term.
