It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.

"The human race has only one or perhaps two generations to rescue itself,... so send us more of your money", says the Washington-based Worldwatch Institute.

Well if it's the HUMAN RACE it's understandable. All races must end at some point. We've just been a part of the Datona 5,000,000,000,000,000,000...you get the point.

Does this mean that after one more generation if everything is still fine then all of the enviro-weenies will finally shut the hell up? ...Didn't think so.

Looking on the bright side though, the end of the world means we'll yet live to see the end of maroon organizations like the Worldwatch "Institute" (in all probability, a mailbox drop somewhere,) and their maroon supporters. I'll drink to that!

One solution that might help a little is for the chicken-littles to eliminate themselves and quit wasting the precious resources they value so highly. Then the rest of us can continue unimpeded creating new resources and building a better World.

MEMO TO SELF: Better check with the Jehovah's Witnesses next time they come knocking on the door - doomsday predictions with exact dates have been their specialty!

Lester Brown and his doomsayers of renown. This guy has been annually reporting the earth's demise for, I dunno, 25-30 years. Like Paul Ehrlich, we're not supposed to pay attention to what he says when its flat out wrong, we're only supposed to pay attention to the tone and urgency of his rhetoric.

On the hopeful side, the report says that renewable energy technologies have now developed sufficiently to supply the world. Even the stuff they like is fantasy. The idea that renewable technologies are ready to displace petroleum is pure hogwash. See an essay by Steven Den Beste here for one discussion.
