“The purpose of our group, in my view, is to raise the consciousness of how even the subtlest labeling of gender as good or bad disallows for safe and affirming spaces which should be a priority of the University,” Footracer said. “Gender affects everone, queer or otherwise.”

Pretty much the textbook definition of navelgazing . . .

as well as to make the bathroom space safer

How about doors on the stalls, with working latches ...

and more welcoming

Regular cleaning and deodorizing would be nice ... perhaps some pleasantly scented soap?

What are these people (?) doing in the bathrooms? No, please don't tell me, I'd have nightmares!

“For me, ‘queer’ is a gender-neutral term with which I identify that also includes my Native American self-identification as being two-spirited in the context of a normative culture,” said sophomore Marlon Footracer, president of Querillas.

It means that young Mr. Footracer is broadminded enough to consider himself a boy (or a girl) and queer, and Indian, all at once! Stunning, the effect of a modern university education on a rock...

That's what you get when you fork over $35,000 for an education there...such a bargain.

It means in the brave new world of Affirmative Action, it's at least a two-fer. You didn't think it was the SAT scores that got it into Stanford?

The group hopes to explore a wide range of issues like queers of color, homophobia in communities of color at Stanford, transgender issues and diversity with respect to sexual orientation. Other interests range from domestic partnership rights to the rape of gays in prisons.

Militant college queers vs. militant college minorities. Should be interesting. Wonder if they'll sell tickets?

Also, is there such a thing as raping (as in nonconsentual sex) gays in prison? If late night Cinemax has taught me anything, I don't think I could be raped in a woman's prison.

I'm thinking if he's queer and a member of an 'underrepresented minority' to boot, he ain't paying full tuition. More like a free ride, I bet. It's rich, unthinking alumni that are forking over the $35K.

Too bad I'm stuck here in the midwest. Maybe someday I can stop by Stanford, and marginalize and disenfranchise a number of groups at the same time by leaving the seat up!

Call me back after five to ten years as this woman's cellmate.

How about 4 sets of bathrooms - men, women, queer men and queer women.

No, better make that 5 - transexuals deserve one, too.

Nope, 6 - male to female transexuals, and female to male each deserve their own.

No good, we have to have 8: Men, women, queer men, queer women; hetero male to female transexuals, queer male to female transexuals, hetero female to male, and queer female to male. How about personal toilets for each person, and bag the public stuff. At that rate, the whole campus will be a giant toilet (as if it isn't one now).

SHEEEEEIIIIIT! I am SOOOOO tired of these people. As Archie Bunker said, I liked them better IN the closet.

Ummm..mark me down as 'sharply' male...

What a fatuous screed...it is to laugh...really!

These goofs are amazingly good auto-ironists, even if they're queer as a three dollar bill.;^)
