I understand what the Bush administration is trying to accomplish, and I hope they succeed. We do not want to take on all of Islam unless we have no other choice. Indeed, as a civilized nation, we have a duty to try to avoid such a war.
The evil part of Islam is manifestly NOT a religion of peace. The evil ones are seeking to gain control of the entire religion. We should not make it easy for them to do so.
Hopefully, the evil part is not the majority (we do not know). However, even if it is not the majority, the evil part is already strong enough that most of the rest of Islam is afraid to speak out.
Now is not the time to give the Islamic extremists more fuel for their insane fire. Our own religious leaders have a duty to consider their words carefully.
The day has come when a pimple of a dictator like Saddam Hussein can make biological weapons capable of killing millions. The stakes are very high. Let's not make it easier for the evil ones.
