Well most Americans including me feel differently. When does a matter rise from the status of a criminal matter to the status of war?

In the past it was a war if we were opposing another country or countries. With the War on Terror this has changed. Al Quada (sp) is much more than an individual or even a criminal gang. It is composed of many thousands of members operating out of many countries. Police and FBI are not adequate to handle this. If we want to defeat them we must use the more aggressive force we have which is the military.

I enjoyed talking to you but I have a question about your screen name. Back in the 60s I was a student at U. Texas Austin. Wonder Warthog was big then at UT and I assumed it was just local to Austin. Do you have any connection with that?

Since the LP can't win, and since most, if not all, of their votes come otherwise Republican voters, (LOL, can't call an LP voter a conservative), the LP is by definition, a spoiler party. The best this that can be done is to go to the Louisiana system, where everyone runs in the election, and if no one gets at least 50% of the vote, a run off is held between the 2 topmost votegetting candidates, and the spoilers can't really spoil anything under those conditions. Whether the runoff or the "primary" is held on the traditional Tuesday in Nov does not matter to me, just some device that forces the winner to collect at least 50% of the vote, instead of there being a 60%-70% of a non-Dem vote, yet the Dem gets elected with a minority of the vote, and that courtesy of the LP. Why LP voters do not realize this is a mystery to me, but just because they are ignorant of this, plus many other things, (LOL, that a Dem = Republican, and other such nonsense), doesn't mean that conservatives have to live under Dem rule without a fight. Believe me, the LA open primary/election will solve many problems, and the LP is not a solution in any way, shape, form, or fashion.....

People who came to America had to be physically fit to be accepted into the country, and jobs were provided by one's own family, clan, or community not by the government. Everyone needed to pull their own weight -- and learn to speak and read English within weeks of arrival.

This is exactly what many Libertarian-bashers fail to recognize.

Libertarians are for open borders - but the welfare state will be dismantled. There'll be no more free medical care or illegal aliens crossing the border to give birth and the infant magically becoming a U.S. citizen.

Immigration, under a Libertarian administration, would be what it was back in the late 1800s and early 1900s - hardworking, intelligent people escaping their homeland to better their lives in America.
