Good point, but still they had to have some money to pay off the bill when it comes due. From what I saw last night John M could work as a mechanic but that was about it. How did he fund his and Lee M's trip across country? How did they pay for themselves in Maryland?
Heard on the news that they paid $250 (maybe that was their share of the car as there's a co-owner) for the Caprice. Where on earth are you getting a car that runs for that much? Maybe he worked on it himself. Maybe someone else paid for it. Curiousier and curiousier.

How about this for Curious - the car lot that the Caprice was bought at (supposedly) is only 7 blocks from the Postal Facility shut down by the Anthrax Mailings - HMMM

When he bought the car from "Sure Shot Sales", did it already have the sniper hole in it? If not, where did he get the tools to cut the hole? If he was living out of a duffle bag, it seems unlikely he'd have tools with him.

I've heard of people in other states that do this and pay the rest "under the table". If New Jersey is like Pennsylvania you must provide the purchase price to register vehicle. That is how they charge the sales tax. Dealers wouldn't do this but private seller might.

Speaking of funding. A story I saw yesterday claimed that he had traveled a lot on airlines. The homeless shelter director said he found out when one of the airlines called the shelter looking for him. He said it sure wasn't often they took calls from the airlines for their residents. The article spoke of several trips where he flew. That does not come cheap. How in the world could a homeless man pay for all of this?
