Italian police say they have broken up a suspected al-Qaida terrorist cell that was reportedly planning attacks against targets in Europe. Italian police, working with the American FBI and British police, arrested four Tunisians during the past week. A fifth Tunisian, said to be part of the same cell, has been detained by authorities in Malta, and a sixth suspect is still being sought.
The four men arrested in Italy were charged with conspiracy to commit terrorist acts, trafficking of forged documents, and facilitating illegal immigration. The group's suspected leader, a man known by the name "Hamsa the Libyan", was arrested in Britain earlier this year where he is still being detained. Italian authorities have arrested dozens of terrorist suspects during the past year, but have released a number of detainees due to insufficient evidence.

Way to go Carbinieri! Viva Berlusconi!
Ever noticed the Italians and Spanish support us, but that the farther north by northeast you go from Rome and Madrid, the less hold people seem to have on reality. By the time you reach Berlin and Stockholm, you're in nut country. Must be depletion of the ozone layer near the North Pole. I've noticed the same tendency in Ottawa.

If I lived on a peninsula (boot shaped) sticking out in the sea, across from the looney terrorists' host countries, I'd damn hope my government was working. Italy is such a country.
