Now it's going to go down to the timing of his resignation. If today or prior to October 6, then no problem. If between October 6 and November 5, then problem writ large. If after November 5, then no problem.

Which means it comes down to how much the Torch thinks he's been screwed over himself by the Democratic Party. Wouldn't it be interesting if the reason this backroom dealing is all taking so long is because McGreevey and the Carville RAT brigade are trying desperately to find some job or position with which to appease the Torch, who's so pissed off at the RATS himself that he absolutely refuses to quit before the 6th?

They're now saying that if someone steps down within 51 days of an election, his/her Party may NOT appoint a replacement. That's NJ law; reported on FNC just now by Shepard Smith.
