And the whole story is that 9-11 was Saddam Hussein's revenge on the United States, and that his follow-up is a threat so terrible that we cannot (currently) retaliate against him.

To those who believe that Saddam already had WMD in place prior to 9-11... I just have to wonder why he didn't use them first. Clean, quick, decisive blow, that takes out much of our country. Why bomb the towers and give us a year to ramp up and prepare for a war. Why not strike the death blow right off the start?

Yeah, I know...mine too, but I am trying to do some searches on the people and places in the article to see if I can verify any of the info as credible. Probably won't get it done until tommorrow though, hubby is worse than any terrorist if I don't get his dinner done on time, LOL!

Because he's not suicidal, that's why.

The Germans are experts when it comes to poison gas. They have conducted extensive clinical trials.

You have that right, more experience than anyone in history.

The Germans have proven that they still need oversight, but I don't think that the US should be the ones to stand guard any longer. I think that the Russians might be better suited to man the bases inside Germany.

I certainly agree with you about Iraq's involvement in 911, but I can also see where it serves notice on the rogue states and potential rogue states that civilization will react to the threat of WMD (instead of retaliation only.)

It's a "twofer" if it works, because it tears down the "cold war" mindset and puts the biggest potential problem state (IMHO) China on notice as well. In subtle, diplomatic terms, of course.

Yes, I agree with both of you; this is a well-designed, well-thought-out strategy. We find ourselves in a difficult situation, but the government is taking the necessary steps to deal with it (which is quite a change from the last administration).

I think that Pres. Bush's appointment of Donald Rumsfeld as Defense Secretary will go down in history as an early decision that turned out to be perfect for the new era.

Thank you so much for the kudos, Mitchell! I agree with you about Rumsfeld - and I really like his choice in Condi Rice, too!
