". . . I see allowing a Democrat to remain in power when it could have been prevented as a triumph of evil.

And when we look our Maker in the eyes come judgment day, and one of His questions is "why did I not do more to stop this evil?" (and to yet others, "why did he/she do absolutely nothing?"), we shall find no acceptable or truthful excuse because, in truth, we could all do more.

But for those who were too apathetic and selfish to have done nothing at all, I have no pity for them when their Maker's eyes pierce their guilty souls, for God knows best the harm their apathy has caused to many unborn babies, and countless others.

We do not live on this earth unto our selves or our selfish wants and desires. We are placed here for a reason and a purpose....and that, in the end, is what we shall be accountable for: "Have I followed my Father's commands?" And "what have I done to improve the world in which I live?"

No, it's a two party system. You can take that to the bank. And the party in the majority sets the agenda and you can bank on that also. You can also bank on the fact that the Democrat Party is thoroughly corrupt and truly evil (not just a word game). And finally, you can bank on the fact that we on Free Republic are determined to remove as many RATs as possible. The rest of you can play your silly words games and blow the smoke from your pipe dreams, but all you are doing is making yourselves look foolish. IMHO

The Gospel According to Jimrob: But it also seems to me that corruption can be defined as voting for the Republican on the ballot just because the third party candidate has "no chance to win" (well, the third party candidate would certainly win if enough people would vote their conscience instead of their fears) and because the Republican is "less evil" than the Democrat on the ballot.

Voting for the "lesser of two evils" is still casting a vote for evil.

That's pretty low, even for you.

Are you kidding? CJ defines the word "low".

All he's doing is establishing the new standard.

You have GOT to be kidding. Which 1% candidate really has 50.1% support?

!

A beaten Democrat party would divide into libertarian and socialist camps.
Then the political fight would be between a mainstream Republican party and those two.

That would be a much better situation for libertarian types than what they have now.

Would we be better off if there were only Republicans and no Democrats? Of course not.

I am not a mind reader, so bear with me. Personally, I think Jim is refering to those who vote straight democrat tickets, no matter what the candidate's views are on any issue.

However, today's democrat is opposed to anything remotely suggested by a Republican, no matter if they happened to support the very same suggestion when a democrat held the presidency. Case in point, the overwhelming support of an attack on Saddam only four short years ago.

Another is liberal judges. I don't know about you, but I'm a little sick and tired of liberal judges ruling from the bench. They ignore laws on the books and interpert the law to suit their needs and desires.

I'd like to see some well qualified judges appointed who follow the law and not dismiss them because they followed it!

Look if you want to help elect Democrats go to some other website. It's NOT apppreciated here.

If voting my conscience instead of my fears lets me sleep at night, then that's what I'll do. If voting for a third party candidate splits the "conservative" vote and the Democrat sneaks by, then I've done nothing more than to see to it that the corrupt two-party system continues to hold the reigns of power, just like everybody else who voted for either a Republican or Democrat.

With regard to how I feel about voting for Republicans at this point, I'll paraphrase Jim Carrey's "Riddler" in "Batman and Robin" as "Two Face" prepares to blow out the brains of an unconscious Bruce Wayne:

Don't vote for him: if you do, he won't learn nothin'.

Third party candidates won't win until enough of them get elected in local or state positions. Only then will they begin to have serious clout.

Voting third party is like mastrubation. It feels good but it doesn't really accomplish anything meaningful.
