Exactly. Fisher should be peaking right when the spotlight starts to shine on the fall campaign. He's not.
Until I see evidence of a surge from polls or other sources, I'll stick with the idea that he's behind by double-digits. I reserve the right to revise and extend my remarks once a new poll comes out. He's gotten bad media lately-- add this to that fire-- and he's not looking like a winner when the voters take a look at him.
But that's just it. You don't know if he's surging or not. Neither do I. I do, however, expect him to close the gap. Will he pass Rendell? I dunno. Will Gov. Schweiker and President Bush be able to help his campaign? I dunno.
I was glad to see that Fisher and Rendell are essentially considered even in the money department.
