Media-
http://www.citizen-times.com (as lib as they come).
http://www.mcdowellnews.com (not as bad as the ACT, but not too much content, either)
Conservative Issue Groups-
Here's a group that was fighting buffers and land grabs at one time:

And here is the site for the NC chapter of Citizens for a Sound Economy
http://www.cse.org/northcarolina/index.php
Their mission statement from their "about us" page:
"What CSE does:
Citizens for a Sound Economy recruits, educates, trains and mobilizes hundreds of thousands of volunteer activists to fight for less government, lower taxes, and more freedom."
Thanks for the CSE link.
We are lucky to have such an active chapter of CSE in our state fighting for smaller govt. locally. I believe they have definitely had an impact. The GOP legislators, especially the ones who signed "the pledge" to not increase taxes, call CSE quite often for their stand on bills before voting. One of their slogans is "We Want Less"
They are working on a brochure with all the candidates and where they stand on issues as well as voting history.
