It amazes me that a US Senator can squeak past a criminal prosecution, get horse-slapped by a friendly ethics committee, and still find support among a majority of voters. You'd think there would be a chorus of bi-partisan voices demanding Torricelli's resignation.

Didn't Marion Barry get re-elected in D.C. after a cocaine conviction? How about Hillary after her numerous illegal transgressions such as White Water and cattle futurs? The sheeple by and large are idiots.

You're right, but you're not giving the sorry episode its full due: He was re-elected in DC after serving a Prison sentence imposed after he was caught on surveillance tape smoking crack while he was mayor!!! IMHO this confirms the abject stupidity of the DC voters and shows that they lack the minimum adult comprehension to be released from the stewardship of the US Government.

Idiots.

Anyways, lets not forget Torch's proudest moment when, during the Senate hearings investigating the Chinese connection to our "stolen" (read sold) nuclear secrets, he stood up and solemnly relayed how he remembered viewing the Senate hearings on the Mafia as a child and how much they hurt him because he too is an Italian-American (bite bottom lip for cameras) and he hoped that Chinese-Americans weren't similarly being villainized.

Of course any first year journalism student was able to confirm that the hearings he referenced were actually held before he was born and they weren't available on tape. Sigh, the man actually lacks the intellectual horsepower to fashion even a possible lie.
