And thank you for confirming my opinion of you.

You have it in you to make sarcastic remarks about another's tragedy. I do not.

This thread is not about you, so rather than further detract from it I will not respond to you here again. Further, loose my address, as you have most certainly lost the last vestige of my respect.

A friend of mine from Houston forwarded me an e-mail today about this case. I was wondering whether any progress had been made and whether anyone from Free Republic was organizing an effort to make progress. A friend of her's is the sister of one of the victims. Anything you could tell us would be appreciated.

I have no idea what anyone else is doing but I'm having lunch with my state rep on Friday just to discuss the matter. I hope he can point me in the right direction. I also have a meeting Thursday with a parole officer I know to see what info he might have to prevent this guy getting out.

Third I have a call in to a local judge friend who was once a homicide detective to see if other cases can be pursued against him. FReep mail me over the weekend and I'll tell you the results, I don't think I should post the info.

Thank you very much

Another thought that occurred to me was whether anyone thinks that the Michigan police have enough evidence to prosecute him successfully in Michigan. If he must be released in 2012, releasing him into the custody of Michigan authorities to stand trial there would be better than nothing. I hope Texas would extradite him without question if Texas had no other evidence with which to prosecute him for other murders.

The problem with these OLD cases is that lots of the evidence has been misplaced...witnesses have moved on etc.

There is still a case against this cretin, that was improperly pled (is that the word) out, he admitted to, BUT was NOT a Harris County case...he was given immunity to ALL Harris County cases...BUT he slipped up and pled guilty to a case that WASN'T a Harris county case...sad news is..the bone heads LOST the evidence against him...

Here is a response I received to an email I sent to Senator John Whitmire: From Senator Whitmire's Capital Office - Thank you for your email concerning the above, I can assure you that no one wants him to be released. The difficulty will be to overcome the sentencing errors that were made, that he will benefit from. This issue is under study, however the law that affects him has already been repealed and a court ruling issued that it could not be made retroactive. We hope to resolve this issue between now and his mandatory release date in 2006. Thanks Larance Coleman, Leg. Aide.

FYI - his is the only Senator to answer my emails.

I spoke with a rep. from Andy Kahan's office. The 14yo was murdered in (I think she said) Waller county, they did not sign off on the plea bargain. IF they can find the lost evidence, they will file charges. I wonder though - if he confessed why can't they use that?

The best that the general public can do is print several copies of the petition (available at the above link), give one or two to friends, neighbors and family, along with the web site address and mail to the governor.
