"He should invite them to the White House."
No - the White House should go to them. Sometimes that is necessary, and this is one of those times. A visit from him would pick the spirits up of EVERYONE there - the miners who were rescued, their families, the rescuers, all of the emergency service people: Salvation Army / RedCross / FireFighters / EMTS / EMS/Docs & Nurses that will attend to the injured - hell, even the people that work at the gas station. It would be impossible to get them all to the White House - though I hope the miners and their families, along with their rescuers and their families are invited in the future.
Just about everybody involved in this rescue this week, was also on scene at the Flight 93 crash. I don't think Bush has been to Somerset to see the site, Laura and Cheney, et al, have been - but not the Prez. This would be a great time to go there.

You're right Bush should... Not to make it political but he only lost PA by a few votes in 2000...

I agree so very much. GW should be there when the men are brought out, or directly afterwards. He may be a distraction while they're concentrating on bringing them out.

If he goes....I'm betting it will be ONLY under the condition that there be no reporters or cameras.
I still remember how GW didn't hog the spotlight (like you-know-who) when the aircraft crew came home from China.
