SAN DIEGO -- The suspect in the sexual assault and slaying of 5-year-old Samantha Runnion is probably still in the Southern California area, and may live, work or have family in the Stanton neighborhood from which the girl was kidnapped, according to Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona.

Retired National City police officer Merrell Davis told 10News that the man police are looking for may be the same person he helped to put behind bars 21 years ago.

There is no proof that Ricardo Navarro Guerrero (pictured, left) committed the vicious murder and rape of Samantha, but Davis said the convicted kidnapper and rapist's methods are eerily similar. "This guy's M.O. (modus operandi) was to approach children that were girls 5 to 7 years old. He would ask them to help him find his kitty. One girl said she had to go to school and that she didn't want to go with him, but he drug her into the car," Davis said.

Guerrero was arrested in 1981. He was convicted of sexual perversion involving a 7-year-old girl, and sentenced to up to eight years in a state mental hospital.

"In a period of two years, he admitted to hitting on young girls 16 times," Davis said.

Davis said that when he began to hear more about the Samantha case, he decided to check back in on Guerrero -- only to find out that he had broken his parole, and his whereabouts are unknown.

"San Diego and that region are not that far away. He was ranging all over the county (in 1981). He is missing now. He served time at Patton. Patton is in that area," he said.

Davis also said there is a resemblance between Guerrero and the composite sketch of the suspect in the Samantha case. Whether Guerrero committed the crime or not, San Diego must be put on alert, Davis said.

"This man was active in the past. He shouldn't be a parolee-at-large. The public should be aware of it," he said.

A spokesperson from the FBI said the agency knows about Guerrero, but said they cannot comment at this time. Guerrero's last known address was in La Mesa.

Do you suppose, that if you met him, he would invite you over to see his $3.50 collection of porno?

Exactly. Many of the ANTI-DW posters on here won't admit it, but many of them have HBO,SHOWTIME,CINEMAX, and if they have a Satellite DISH they can have SPICE,EXXXSTASY, and so on. NO, they don't COLLECT PORN, they just watch it. Can't get them because there is no material evidence.

Most people won't admit it but PORN is what funded the growth of the INTERNET.

NOW, back to your point. DW had so many NORMAL, ACTIVE interests that to think that WATCHING PORN would be a PRIMARY activity, one that would alter his mental functions, his life-long moral attitudes, and turn him into a mentally deranged child murderer is, in itself, insanity..
