The sentencing of convicted cat killer Scott Herrin has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Lee County Justice Center.

I'm wondering how he killed it. Simply killing an animal is not necessarily cruel, if done swiftly and humanely. This guy is an idiot in any case.

I sometimes humourous or sad animal related stories. This one has more elements than just some guy on a bad day... Like the e-mail campaign from pet lovers, this guy's own threats, etc.

Film processed at a drugstore lab led to the arrest of four people on animal cruelty charges for what investigators say was torturing and skinning a Siamese cat because it meowed too loud.

The mutilation was discovered Tuesday when a Walgreen's photo lab printed 27 pictures of the incident and alerted authorities. "The cat looked like it had pretty much been mutilated. It was partially skinned and obviously dead," said Lance Raiche, Lee County Animal Services officer.

The pictures were of a partially skinned cat, draped over a shower rail with a young woman holding the cat's skinned tail, then holding the tail in her mouth, said Lee County Sheriff's investigators.

Other photos showed another female standing beneath the cat's carcass, letting the blood drip onto her face, according to sheriff's reports. The cat then was thrown into the community pool at a mobile home park.

Cat owner Scott Herrin, 25, reportedly strangled, then cut the throat of the cat, named Thora, in his bathroom, deputies said.

He told investigators he was angry at the animal "for keeping him up with loud howling and bringing fleas into his residence," according to reports.

Charged with one count each of animal cruelty were Herrin, his sister, Betty Herrin, 17; Leeah Shepardson, 17 and Bobbie Condon, 18.

Investigators said the killing was not ritualistic or ceremonial. "They are alternative youths, like gothic," said Sgt. Mark LeBlanc.

"It's just stupid and sick," said the Herrins' aunt, Teresa Herrin. "I think it has a lot to do with the heavy metal they listen to."

Sounds like it was already dead when they mutilated it. If so, it shouldn't be referred to as torture.

John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer both had a long history of animal torutre and mutilation. This scumbag should be removed from society, whether by execution or institutionalization. This judge is a fool. This miscreant has served notice on society that he is not fit to live amongst us.

In addition, each of the women in the photgraphs should be immediately sterilized, along with the male. No one capable of such monstrous acts should be permitted to breed and thus spread their evil seed forward.

Many acquaintances of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the Columbine High School killers, say they bragged about mutilating animals. Serial killers such as John Wayne Gacy, Ed Kemper, Henry Lee Lucas, and Sam Berkowitz all had a history of animal torture and killing.

Scott Herrin committed no crime except littering. He doesnt deserve to be sentenced to anything as long as he took the cat out of the pool and cleaned it up.
