Call for a dual mobilization for total liberation. Or rather- an October uprising.
In October- the streets of DC, and Denver, CO will erupt. 2 forces made up of many movements with much historical/herstorical precedent will converge. The anti-capitalist, the anti-imperialist, the anti- colonialist, the anti-authoritarian, the anti-capitalist, the anti- patriarchy, the anti-white supremacy will all take to the streets in these 2 cities.
It seems absurd we would argue our comrades one way or another- as if there were some sort of dichotomy. Therefore we don't intend to do so. Instead, we propose this: Both mobilizations are seen as part of the same convergence. That is, they are seen as the same struggle- a struggle for total liberation.
As anarchists, we are for a revolution against domination- that is, the logic that perpetuates oppression. We therefore, can not afford to separate our struggles. Capitalism, or rather the neoliberal model of capitalism (globalization) is just the current economic model of that system of domination- once summed as colonialism. Patriarchy, the system of male-domination is another different kind of model, equally as overwhelmingly entrenched, and as oppressive as capitalism. The very same can be said for white-supremacy- as it goes well beyond, class, and gender binaries. All of the systems of oppression and domination create the sum of domination- that is the totality of domination, which perpetuates and legitimizes a society based on domination. It is this that must be fully confronted and deconstructed.
Colonialism is always domination. All systems of domination become integrated and soon take over cultures as part of the colonization process- indoctrinating people to become part of the dominant culture, or slave to it. Neocolonialism (i.e globalization) , like the old model of colonialism destabilizes and destroys culture. And as Columbus did to the peoples of Turtle Island and Cuba- Mc Dicks, Nike, etc does to our sisters, and brothers in the global south. By resisting the IMF, WB, G8, FTAA, WTO, EU, and other institutions of the global market, we are in fact resisting the new Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. Furthermore, we are offering visible and actual solidarity to our comrades and allies in the global south; and challenging the legitimacy of these institutions existence- that is, the legitimacy of people to control other people's lives.
We can see why the anti-globalization movement's most visible contingent (and possibly most relevant) is the anarchists. However, much to our dismay, the reality is that the anti-globalization movement hasn't done much for anarchy besides making it relatively sexy. There is indeed now, an international movement against capitalism, and to some maybe that is enough. However if we do not recognize the totality of domination, we very well risk either at best, becoming irrelevant and failing- or at worst, recreating it. As such we must come to grips that the revolution, may not be how we envision it. Moreover, we may have to reflect on what our true intentions are. Do we want total liberation, or just a more democratic society? Moreover, are we willing to attack with the same passion we attack capitalism, all forms of domination including our own internalized white supremacy, and patriarchy? This is particularly relevant now because of this international movement- when we actually have a chance to be allies and comrades despite our predominant man-honkiness.
When the old garde (i.e Columbus) comes back to haunt us.
As stated above if the IMF, and friends are the new Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria- then what of the old? The Columbus Day celebration is, in fact the celebration of all the horrible bullshit the institutions of globalization seek to impose. It is the celebration of a culture of domination. And we're sure that the organizers of this event would laugh at such an accusation, the same as James Wolfensohn laugh at being accused of perpetuating "3rd world debt" and genocide/ecocide- but we all know it's sadly very true. Columbus Day is the celebration of genocide, of our culture's war against wimmin, against people of color, and in all reality- the systematic annihilation of all things wild.
Our society is infected. [and if] the sick joke of Columbus Day is the theory and ideology, the IMF and friends are certainly the praxis.
Like we said in our earlier call to action- comrades, the world is in flames. The murders and pain suffered by the system of domination are immeasurable. Even today, the genocidal/ecocidal wars rage on. With every person killed in Bush's war against everything. With every person of color poor and in prison. With every 1-4 wimmin raped. With every 1-11 men raped. With every bit of alienation. With every last bit of wildness clear-cut. With every person who works 2-3 jobs just to get by. The list goes on
Our righteous anger is much over due.
We have the power of there being a cohesive and articulate uprising against domination in general- for total liberation in October. More importantly, we have the opportunity to build very real coalitions and alliances with people who's struggle to survive is on it's own revolutionary. That is, we have the opportunity to move the anarchist movement to one that is struggling genuinely for total liberation. Where we go however lies directly in our hands.
If we plan to in DC, (as the rhetoric and organizing suggests) and in Denver attack institutions of domination and oppression, we must also be willing to attack internalized forms of domination and oppression with the same passion and militancy. Moreover we must find a way to make our marginalized resistance (i.e anarchist formations/RTS and black bloc) into an inclusive uprising.
This all seems like a lot to think about just 4 months before all hell breaks lose, but indeed, if these last 2 years have taught us anything; it is that the movement has a hell of a lot of sh!t to work on before we can become a mass uprising.
Nevertheless, we demand no less than our wildest dreams. And in our wildest dreams, DC, and Denver burn. The people see a clear and articulate critique of domination. And we get this much closer to revolution.
Comrades, the last weeks of September and first 2 weeks of this October can very well effect the shape history and herstory may take. And indeed, the tragedy of Genoa, and the reality of state repression may indeed become very real to us even with in the father county of the US. But fear not, brothers and sisters for we have sparked something far more overwhelming than anything the pages of history are willing to report.
