I really start to get the impression that our campaign in Afghanistan was really a lot more succesful than we figure it was. I bet they really didn't think we'd invade that country. They were probably banking on another impotent show of force like Clinton did. I would imagine clamping down on their assets in banks and what not didn't help 'em too much either. They probably used most of their best men on 9/11, a lot more of their best men have been killed or captured and they're down to the dregs of their org and the bumbling fools.

We'll see.

The battle for Balkh (Mazar-e Sharif) and Konduz cost the Al Qaida dearly. Thousands were trapped in the North and were blocked from retreating to the Pakistan borderlands. Western media, which seems to feed on anything that smacks of failure and/or the appearance of a knock-out blow to AQ, now seems determined to keep Osama alive. This should play into the hands of the mujahideen, but doesn't. The Muslims know that OBL is dead.
