The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." Do you or do you not believe that Dick Cheney is the defacto president of the United States?

"Unless, of course, you want YOUR daughter/mother/sister to die of ovarian cancer."

You sound like Al Gore in SNL's Lockbox skit. Except the old woman in question was dying of everything including, cancer, AIDS, shark bites...

No, people who hate other people call it that.

Of course you are incorrect, but it does help to clarify your mindset on such issues.

[Socialism] was first applied in England to Owen's
theory of social reconstruction, and in France to those
also of St. Simon and Fourier . . . The word, however,
is used with a great variety of meaning, . . . even by
economists and learned critics. The general tendency is
to regard as socialistic any interference undertaken by
society on behalf of the poor, . . . radical social
reform which disturbs the present system of private
property . . . The tendency of the present socialism is
more and more to ally itself with the most advanced
         democracy. --Encyc. Brit.

We certainly want a true history of socialism, meaning by that a history of every systematic attempt to provide a new social existence for the mass of the workers. --F. Harrison.

Imagine if Larry had to meet the same test as the prophets of the OT had to meet. You know-- put up, or shut up. Old Larry would have been silenced some time ago.

You would be the last on that could clarify anything; your buddy baited me and I finally took the bait; bad on me.

This thread is NOT about that.

I know that your most favorite thing to do at FR is to hound some about health care which you equate with socialism, but you would do well to study-up on the difference between socialism and the egalitarianism that is found thru-out Chrisianity and that has figured most prominately in the history of this country.

Recognizing that we are "all created equal" and have "equal justice under the law" and "equal opportunity" has absolutely NOTHING to do with the responsiblities that were given to our government by our Founding Fathers. They would most likely find Howlin's statements concerning the government providing health care as an egregious act against the Constitution and an acknowledgment that we have an entire generation that would rather have the Government perform the acts that God's people should be doing from the commands He left for us in the Bible.

While we're at it Ben, let me ask you a question, you do not post articles for "religious" reasons, yet after an article is posted you participate in the thread. Do you not join the poster in the sin that you have tried to avoid by not posting the article yourself?

By the way, when I read that story this year, it was spelled Sir Gawaine.

Are you going to hold that against me? ;-)

It's your right as an American to believe what you want. If you support socialized medicine, that's your right. Just have the courage to admit it. No matter how you spin it, government paying for healthcare is socialized medicine.

You surely don't think they would tell you the status of his cases, do you?
