"Murder" - ?
At worst, accidental manslaughter; but the prosecutor must be running for higher office, and using the stretch of prosecutorial discretion to see how far they can get.

According to the story, the DA's office hasn't even seen it yet. This sounds like an overzealous cop.
But you're right. It wasn't murder. It was whatever the Michigan equivalent to reckless homicide is.

There was nothing "accidental" about leaving children in a car knowing that you are getting your hair done- murder certainly fits here.

At worst, accidental manslaughterI hope you're wrong about that. I'm just SICK over this! Today I was out running errands with my thirteen year old son and his friend and they wanted to stay in the car while I went into a store and I told them NO WAY! It was sweltering hot out here today. And those boys were old enough to get out if they got too hot. I *still* wouldn't leave them. That anyone would do that to two young children is horrendous. Even if it wasn't hot out, she shouldn't have left two children that age!

How do you know she didn't purposely do this?
She drove around for an hour before doing anything at all about the situation. At a minimum wouldn't you rush your children to the nearest hospital to try to revive them hoping there was a chance? This alone is very much a like a hit and run. At no point during this whole episode did she show any concern for the children. Everything was about her alone.
At best it was accidental manslaughter.
At worst it could very well be murder.

It was termination for inconvenience punishable in Michigan by 50 hours of community service -- unless that too is inconvenient.
