U-TURN: BUSH ADMIN OUTLINES 'GLOBAL WARMING' EFFECTS ON AMERICA; ACKNOWLEDGES DAMAGE

DAMAGE

In a stunning U-turn for the Bush administration, the United States has sent a climate report to the United Nations detailing "specific and far-reaching effects" that it says "global warming will inflict" on the American environment.

MORE

Also for the first time -- the White House places "most of the blame for recent global warming on human actions -- mainly the burning of fossil fuels that send heat-trapping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere," the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Monday Page Ones, according to publishing sources.

Perhaps the administration is setting the stage for advocating the building of nuclear power plants. The strategy may be to embrace the enviro-wackos then bring them along to adopt 'the most practical solution'.

We are on record as saying that Kyoto is as bad a cure as the cause, but we still need to address the problem, not pretend this is a matter of ideology and not a matter of science.

Global warming is a lie and a fraud and you are either ignorant or evil for promulgating this - which are you?

Well from my perspective that is rather harsh. In fact, you may have succeeded in annoying folks in disparate camps that don't agree about much about anything at all. :) That is rather clever of you and I admire that.

Remember; the senate voted 95-0 to NOT have any Kyoto type agreements signed by Bill Clinton. Something else is going on here.

You are right on that one; for instance, he asked the head of the FAA (who has NO aviation experience) that Clinton appointed to step aside after 9.11
She refused; he is letting her remain til her term is up this August, then he places in his person. I think he is wise. Not coming in being dictatorial. It doesn't give the left ammo. He is not behaving how Gore would have, or how Clinton did. He administrates and leads, not dictates and controls. Patience, Laz. It is (1) a Sunday night Drudge headline and (2) not over yet.

If I'd wanted Gore for President, I'd have voted for him....

Show me the science!\

Here's the SCIENCE: From another happy-liberal media outlet near you:
Images Show Mars Has Extreme Global Warming

(snip...)High-resolution images snapped by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor show that levels of frozen water and carbon dioxide at the Red Planet's poles have dwindled dramatically — by more than 10 feet — over a single Martian year (equivalent to 687 days or about two Earth years).

I suppose we're responsible for Mars warming up as well?

If Bush goes to the left, then I will go anti-Bush. Period.

Bush already went left a few months ago with the farm bill and with the education bill plus the fact that he has not had the courage to veto any bill that has come before his desk.

This news better be fake, or Bush is a goner (and deservedly so). This is almost too far out to believe, but if there is one iota of truth to this global warming turnaround, Bush has just committed political suicide.

i think true conservatives are minorities now. :(

And your definition of a "true conservative" is someone who thinks that the question of whether human activity is increasing global warming is a Constitutional question, not a scientific question?

And your comment overlooks the history of the world..y'know...the world that had Ice Ages and warming periods LONG BEFORE humans could have been affecting weather and climate! Remember that world?

Recent info says the Sun is moving into a more active period, and some scientists claim it is burning Helium. It IS a possibility, that the Sun goes thru cycles and burns layers. If so, that alone would warm the Earth...which BTW, the Earth still is recovering from the LAST ICE AGE!

Remember the reports in the late 70's-early 80's of the coming ICE AGE?

Care to average the temps over the last 1000 years?

Didn't think so....

Just another nail in the coffin (if report is true) for GW in my books. If this is so, I'll vote for the one from now on who will give ME more...why let the leftists get all MY hard-earned money. Since it seems Republicans are looking to give my money away to others, I might as well learn to vote to get as much as I can now!

Global Warming Science = Creation Science

No, a does not equal b.

Creation science is not science. It is based on religious faith in the Bible, and is not based on science. It uses science to try to prove the Bible, which is ridiculous, as the Bible is a statement of religion that is supposed to be taken on faith, a gift of the Holy Spirit.

Global Warming Science may be perverted by people trying to prove a religion of Gaia, a liberal religious orientation, but it is also a matter that genuine science may prove, disprove, or place in a larger and more enlightened framework.

Genuine science is a matter of facts that are amenable to testing and replication of results and that can be used to support or disprove an hypothesis that seeks to explain a greater framework of which these facts are a part.

The essense of real science is an open mind. And in that context, there are very few scientists on this thread.

If this story is true, it could be payment demanded by "our allies" in the war on terror. Bush signs Koyoto, or they help or ignore Al Quata. Koyoto- or we're on our own.

You are the one making it an ideology. Global warming is a theory. You do exactly what the envirowackos do, and assume it is a fact. From your own post...

but we still need to address the problem.

What problem?

It hasn't been shown yet at all that global warming as a consequence of human activity, specifically burning of petroleum and coal fuels, even exists. Not only have their been ice ages in the last 100k years, there have been global warming interludes such that sea levels were higher, and mountain climates in many parts of the world warmer.

You must have checked your logic at the door.

OK, this is the final straw! Bush is either the biggest fraud in history, or he's been replaced by a duplicate controlled by the Dems. He won't get my vote again.

I'm sure you would prefer President Al Gore?

It's scary to see these good people being banned while we still have absolutely liberty-hating ilk here such as Texasforever, Roscoe, ArneFifkin, and others contaminating this place.

What a charming chap you are. Broad brush ad hominum attacks behind the backs of folks. Surely we can do better than that. Surely it is not too difficult to focus on issues rather than personalities isn't it?

I'll wait to form my opinion of this until I hear the facts from the Bush White House before I believe the Drudge report through New York Times. New York Times isn't that an arm of the DNC?

PS......

Bush signs Koyoto, or they help or ignore Al Quata. Koyoto- or we're on our own.

In other words, Europe is blackmailing us. A possibility?
