Tell me, anyone, what is a good alternative! I am moving on! I was considering any or all of these for a CAPTION THAT PIC thread, and in my convulsions, decided I AM THROUGH with MICROSOFT. What can I do to have them torn dismantled into a thousand microscopic pieces?

Guilt by association.
After seeing those photos of Bush with that Arab sheik today, I guess we'll have to dump him in the trash too, right?

So, he caved in to the Shakedownmeister? Well, you can buy a MacIntosh, that's one way to voice your dismay. You can use Linux RedHat on your pc instead of Microsoft....most MS software kinda sucks anyway iMO.

Too bad that I think Apple is run by an unrepentent lib. Maybe time to go to Linix?

My opinion of Bill Gates has just taken a nosedive. Linux suddenly got more appealing to me.

Re #1
Funny. MS have so many Conservative supporters. But this wrong publicity may cost Bill Gates many of its die-hard supporters who tend to be more from business and politics oriented segment than tech-oriented segment of conservatives. He should have sent his VP or other subordinates to deliver goodies.

Maybe Bill will shrug like Atlas. He deserves to.

Read
Shakedown.
If you personally boycott all of Jackson's "volunteer donors" you might end up naked in a cave. Hungry. Offline.
If we all did so, he'd be looking for a job.
Time for the immortal "Who Is John Galt?"

No guts! And it would be so easy now. A company spokesman calls a press conference and announces that 'this shakedown artist has been so dicredited now, we won't do business with him!' (Cite widely known evidence here.) This gets on the evening news (you bet it would!) and Shakedown Inc is on the defensive. Let them then mount a boycott against the General Motors of software. No freaking guts!

Switch to Linux.
Linux can be legally downloaded free.
If you pay for it, what you are paying for is the manual.
for example. Mandrale Linux 8.1 3 CDROM disk set with manual can be obtained at about $50.00. this includes a whole host of utilities and applications including a word processor that saves in RTF format, a spread sheed, full internet software, full server software, full image handling software,
The same 3 disk set can be obtained legally without the manual for less than $10.00 at Cheapbytes or downloaded from Mandrake free.
The operating system is more robust than any of the Windows versions and less prone to viruses. The server is much less prone to attack. Linux is also highly configurable.
The Mandrake Install program will allow you to easily carve out a separate partition and install a multi-boot system so that you can choose either Windows or Linux on boot up.
As you get used to using Linux, you will find yourself using Windows less and less until you are effectvely using Linux as your principle operating system and using Windows rarely if at all.
