The Petition to New York City regarding the Firefighter Memorial

protesting the originally proposed Ground Zero Flag Raising Statue and seeking that any future plans for a memorial be non-political and historically correct, has surpassed the 400,000 signature mark. It now stands at:

400,001 Signatures

We will keep this petition going until it is clear that future plans for the memorial are not politcally driven and are not revisionist. That being the case, please continue to point others towards the petition site at:

to sign and forward the petition on to all they know.

We are winning this fight since the original statue has been cancelled and other plans to date appear not to be political or revisionist.

In as much as the attention and notice has dropped way off due to the cancellation of the originally planned revisionist statue, and since the signature rate has fallen dramtically off ... this will be the last post regarding this subject ... short of new revisionist plans of course.

Heart felt and humble thanks to so many FReepers and so many others all over the nation who made this possible. It is another example of how we can win and roll back the plans and activities of those whose ideology is in direct conflict with the principles this nation was founded upon.

I would ask those freepers who have been expending so much time and effort on this worthy cause to please consider, now that it has wound down signifcantly, to apply those efforts to other worthy causes of your choice that may need more urgent attention. Of course, you can find an abundance of them right here on FR. God bless you each.

Thanks. It's winding down now, but it was quite a ride and something I know I never expected when I sat down one day in January and wrote it out of frustration.

Thanks ... but the acolades go to all of those people who signed and the many who forwarded, emailed, phone called, posted, called in, etc., etc.

They are the ones who made these kind of numbers possible.

If we allow a lie to be made out of an event of such historical consequence, there is no place it will stop. The least we can do is say that it stops here ... and then roll it back from there at every opportunity we can.

Those folks at the "Patriot Rally" on the mall today were doing the same work in the face of ten's of thousands of folks who have been deluded and turned into useful idiots for our enemies. My hat is off to those patriots ... many of them Freepers, who stood in that breach today.

Thank you ... it does a heart good to see so many people stand for something that is right like this. Let's us know that beneath all of the rhetoric and tensil and materialism ... there are a LOT of Americans whose hearts and minds are open to the foundational principles.

I missed the 2pm Mountain milestone, due to being a Grampa at a T-Ball game. However, I don't see any 'fireworks' so it's apparently one of those 'solemn celebrations'.
