"Fascist punk!" repeated Ralph Poynter, a private investigator and representative of Ms. Stewart. If I were the artist, I would've shouted "Communist b!stard!!" back at 'em....

Bump....free speech or incitement? I think it falls under freespeech as it was so ridiculous a stunt, but even incitement wouldn't have been so bad....thugs like Rahman got where they are through incitement, why not give them a taste of their own treachery?
To: marshmallow
If he would only stick to the script of chopping the head off of a Christ figure, or the Madonna, he could avoid all this nasty arrest stuff. But chop the head off a terrorist sympathizer? That isn't free speech, it actually has value, so its clearly not protected by the Constitution. We must be orderly in our art!

"When people decide that what they believe is good for everyone else, I call them fascist punks," said Poynter. I still say "socialists" is a more apt word to describe these people. Not that this Mr. Poynter would ever figure that out...

Can someone get this guy on FR?
Thread from yesterday:
Pushing the envelope on free speech (my title)
He was also an anti-Gore protestor:
Nation awaits landmark ruling on Bush v. Gore ... About 100 demonstrators gathered outside the nation's high court in Washington, carrying signs and often arguing among themselves. Even the Man of Steel didn't think the wait was so super; Scott LoBaido of New York, dressed as Superman, lugged a two-sided sign proclaiming this was The End and it was time to say Good Night, Al. The Party Is Over.

Sometimes I envy your locale..

Final statement/question: What law did this guy break? He didn't appear to steal or vandalize anyone else's property. The stunt might be a little bit excessive, but it's not like stuff like this has
never happened before in NYC...

If he had only attached some some fake dynamite sticks to the effigy he would have been allowed to proceed.

I was trying to remember this guy's name sounded so familiar, he's the guy that threw the horse manure on the Brooklyn Museum!! HAHAHAHA!

Stupid! Read it to the end next time!!!
To: Dakmar
Hey, that would help. Though, given the person being effigied, it may be redundant.

They generally charge you with "disorderly conduct" you're harshing a cop's donut mellow in some way. Hey, just so long as it's a real law, I'm satisfied.
It'll get thrown out of court.
...and that makes it even better.

I wanna buy this guy a beer, and I never thought I'd say that about a "performance artist".

At first, I'd read the guy's name as Scott BAIO, and I thought--wow, Chachi's really changed...
LoBaido sounds like someone I'd like to hang out with. I wonder if this is a sign that few arty types are beginning to wake up... nah... that's probably too much to hope.
