Question - If Norm wins and the senate goes Republican - Does Lott(barf) come back as senate leader??
This first order of business when the Senate and the House meet in January after an election, is to adopt their Rules and elect their leaders. Normally, the leaders of each party from the last Session of Congress, hold their positions in the new one -- moving up to Majority Leader of the Senate and Speaker of the House, if their party has a majority of the seats. But this is not guaranteed. There will be an election in the House and Senate. I sincerely hope that when (not if) the Republicans take back a majority in the Senate, that they choose a vertebrate as Majority Leader. That would rule out Trent ("Notta") Lott for the job.
(Hastert is a shoe-in for reelection as Speaker of the House.)
