The Queen of Jordan led a pro-PLO demonstration today in the streets of Amman. That pro-PLO attitude, it's public policy in the Arab world, deeply entrenched.

Brave man, an Arab who speaks against the Insane Death Cult Mafia.

I dunno, do you think the author is dreaming? How big is the sane contingent in the Arab world? Does anyone know?
To: Revolting cat!
the arab world well understands visceral strength...
and we send colon powell. um, duh.
the author may have a point... but we'd not know. there may
well be the silent masses of arabs hoping for better than they've seen, and
maybe even deliverance. but in the meantime, they're killing us.

He's good on TV. Used to see him a lot during the Gulf War. I think he is a Shiite from Lebanon.

This thread is like a breath of fresh air. This is exactly what I've been saying since this whole thing started. Arafat is working with Saddam and the terrorists to try to drag us off the track. It's not going to work.
If Arafat is not taken care of immediately, then he'll be taken care of on our swing out of Iraq. One way or the other, Arafat is on borrowed time. No, we're not going to kill him, that's what he wants. Instead we'll send him off into exile to live out what's left of his life in solitude.

Interesting piece, here.

This guy is really good. A sane Arab, who'd a thunk it?

Good piece.

And we can't fall for the myth that Palestine is what ails Egypt, for example, or IraqYep, even if Palestine and Israel were best buddies, these places would still be cesspools in need of a political and cultural revolution.

Jordan doesn't want them trying to overthrow the Kingdom again. They don't support them, they loathe them, as does much of the rest of the Arab world, and are afraid they will be overwhelmed by this madness.
The Palestinians in Jordan proper are indigenous. The *palestinians* in Gaza and the West Bank are Egyptian, Tunisian, Syrian, Lebanese, Saudi, Yemenis, Iraqis, and so on. Maybe 1/5 are actually from the old Transjordan.

Eggs Ackley! A sane arab? Maybe it's only a religion that promises whorehouse heaven to murderers that's crazy...what has this culture ever produced besides oil?
To: metacognate
Adjami is on the mark.
Arafat will be reduced to an irrlevancy when Saddam is overthrown. The raw demonstration of American power will impress every Arab in every Arab Street.
Arafat is a fool if he thinks he can stop the Iraqi operation. But unlike his money, a fool and his beliefs are not easily parted.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Mr Ajami has been right on about the Middle East. Frankly, I'm shocked.
