Whilst I agree with you (have some very dear Palestinian friends who cared for my children as their own and are horrified over all this), I think the Muslims who wish us no harm and would like to peacefully co-exist really need to do some PR. If we've got Arab friends over there, who the heck are they? We aren't hearing from them.

I wasn't saying you, Lazarus Long, did. I was making a general argument--"But you can't call him a traitor, as some people here have, for trying to defend America first." I didn't mean you personally, otherwise I wouldn't have used the qualifying phrase, "as some people here have." I was trying (I guess unsuccessfully) to exclude you from that group. In retrospect, I would have done better to write, "but one can't call him a traitor, as some people here have, . . ."

It is always dangerous to speculate on the motivation of others. One possible goal is to secure a UN peace keeping force that would, of course, be dominated by his third world allies. The next step of course, would be an UN imposed peace giving him his demands. A second goal might be to goad Israel into a massive response that would lead to world wide sympathy for his cause. Then again, you could be right.

Somehow I suspect you don't think I am.

No, you're correct, we are not hearing from them, nor from Mualims here in the US, for that matter. Could it be that those who identify themselves as Muslim are much more likely to allow religion to control their lives to a much greater extent than Christians do? That, here and there, they are much more isolated from other ideas and cultures than the typical American?

That said, I hope they soon (like now!) "get with it" and join the modern world. The majority of terrorists over the last 30 years seem to be Islamic and everyone is beginning to notice.
