The offenders where reassigned to residences at Bellermine High School and Santa Clara U after discovery by Thomas Smolich, SJ, head of the California Province.

Okay, now I'm finally convinced. This problem isn't a problem, it's a scandal.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to see another priest or Jesuit without at least mentally wondering whether they might be a homosexual predator.

I believe the mentally disabled are subjected to sexual abuse continually and such abuse is not limited to Catholic Priests. However, there is no excuse for Priests to engage in sexual misconduct.

My father owned a service business back in the 1960's and he had a California State Hospital on contract for regular monthly service. One of his service representatives came back to the office one afternoon with a report that he had seen two hospital orderlies having sex with a mentally retarded female patient. Needless to say, there was a 'flap up' about the incident and an investigation by the hospital.

I respectfully suggest that an investigation of mental health facilities would find such problems are rather wide-spread.

San Jose Jesuits abuse mentally disabled

I thought the Catholic Church frowned on self-abuse.

From the article: "One of the other two men still resides at the Los Gatos center and is ``extremely ill,'' according to his attorney, Charles Hendrickson. "

Is this a euphemism for "AIDS"?

"San Jose Jesuits abuse mentally disabled. (Response) I thought the Catholic Church frowned on self-abuse."

Not funny. Even retarded adults are childlike, and only predators would take advantage of them. These priests should be behind bars, like the animals that they are. I am not anti-Catholic. I am anti-rapist. And I don't care if the rapist is Catholic, Protestant or President!

For those looking for an alternative I suggest the Society of St. Pius X. www.sspx.org

The SSPX is a schismatic sect, not in union with Rome.

I'll stay and help fix the problem while you run away.

BTW, if you think there aren't homosexuals in the SSPX, you're kidding yourself.

I'm not sure how easily it can be fixed. The Church can aggressively root the predators out, but trust, once destroyed, is not easily restored.

That is unfortunate but somewhat understandable under the circumstances. Hopefully this crisis will inspire true priests with the courage to break rank and expose the traitors among them.

Ain't that the truth.

I don't know why you would defend the in defensible and slander those who you have no knowledge of at all.

I'm not defending pederast priest or their accomplice bishops. I agree with everything you say about them.

But the solution is not to run off. The SSPX IS a schismatic group whose leader was excommunicated. No wonder you dislike John Paul II so much; your boy Lefebvre wanted his job.

Why don't you good folks come back and join the battle to flush Satan's smoke from the sanctuary of the One True Church?

You're right about the trust. I just think of all the good men I know who are priests who are forever smeared by the actions of pederasts and the bishops who covered for them.
