WHITE HOUSE BRIEFING - ARI SAYS "DEMS KNEW ABOUT SHADOW GOVERN."
cable news stations ^ | 3/5/02 | me

Posted on 03/05/2002 9:40:46 AM PST by Elkiejg

I just caught part of the WH briefing with Ari (before cable stations cut away for the Pentagon briefing). The media was peppering him about Dems saying they didn't know about shadow gov. arrangements. HE SHOT THEM DOWN.....kept claiming in his soft spoken way "We're confident that when they talk with people on the Hill, they will see that the info. was previously submitted to them" - I'm paraphrasing.

He also got a great shot in to old Helen Thomas when he replied to her that the shadow gov. situation had been around since the cold war years - which he was sure she remembered!! I laughed out loud.

The stupid press kept hammering - "Daschle, Byrd, etc. say they don't know anything about it" -- Ari would reply with his "I'm sure when they talk to people, etc., etc." It was great - sorry they cut away for the Pentagon.

Does anyone know if transcripts are put out on these briefings? It would be worth reading.

...and I thin Crusty is the culprit.

Is this an option to the Deep Dish Pan Crusty? ;-)

I don't know who first coined the term "shadow government" for this particular operation, but it sure is curious how it's become the term du jour for every news orifice in the country.

Do you suppose if the administration had decided to call this "Operation: Best Government Idea Ever" that term would have been used as prolifically?

Doubt it.

The Democrats have not EVER cooperated with the Republicans on judges, why do they think the Dems will start now?

The Dems will never cooperate on matters of the Judiciary as the only way that the most radical elements of their agenda can be implemented is via judicial fiat.

One of the most fundamental differences between the parties is how they view the Judicial branch, the Dems see it as a tool via which to govern quasi-tryanically.

It's dangerous stuff, I wish the GOP would fight robustly considering what's in the balance.

Dubya's spokes-persons, including Ari should not only keep hammering away at the
evidence that Dashcle and his minions knew about the "Shadow Government"
AND
ask the press corps and the country this one question:

"What kind of a Senator Majority Leader waits SIX MONTHS after an attack on the
base of civil authority like September 11...to wonder if there is any plan for
continuity of government, in case a second attack did end the ability to govern from Washington, D.C.?"

"Shadow Government"

I wonder...Shadow Presidency was a term used in Nov2000 regarding the "illegitimate President." I am now wondering if the term shadow government was used instead of "Contingency Plan for the Constinuation of the Government of the United States of America" which is what it really is. Shadow government conjures images of a secret group running the show (i.e. Who is pulling President Bush's Puppet Strings?"

Interesting

Yeah, particularly since they've been in place and widely known since the 1950s. Heck, even I, but a child in the 1950s, knew about the bunkers, the plans for continuity of government, the delegation of other officers should those named in the Constitution all be killed, etc.

Where was Daschle during this? Despite his bleached hair and funny blow-fry, he probably lived though the '50s. And he made it to the Senate without ever knowing about this? Gimme a break.

Just so we are on the same page...it is not my opinion. I just wonder if that is what the word choosers would want us to believe. No tin foil at my house.

You're being too kind. I think the big-mouthed, racist hillary was too stupid to read the work correctly from her talking points.

but he's NEVER timid.

Did he educate the apparently ignorant reporters about the fact that Dashole was wisked away to the "shadow government" on September 11?
That is timidity.

I hope everyone was watching Brit Hume tonight. I'm still LMAO. Daschle had to go before the cameras and eat dirt. HAHAHHAHAH. and Byrd said yes, he was offered a briefing about "continency government" but he refused because he knew all about it.

White House reporters can eat dirt too. Stoooooopid to the max, that how they look tonight.

Maybe Bret Hume should send Tommy "Clueless in Dakota" Daschle the board game "Clue" and tell him he needs one.

Oh please....I can't wait to see the transcript from today's briefing!!! The reporters will look sooooooooooooo stupid and gullible...and so guilty of toting water for Daschle's lies.

FOX News tonight was a godsend for exposing the truth. Dashcle has had to backtrack totally!!! I want to be reminded which reporter told Ari that Byrd said he wasn't briefed. Tonight on FOX, it was reported that Byrd was offered a briefing and refused it because he knew all about the contingency plan.

Helen practically called Ari a liar.
