Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V, No. 1

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.

And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat.

And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.

It was a shocking lapse of judgement. I'd hate to see him gone forever, as he's contributed a ton of good stuff to FR. Perhaps suspension rather than killing the account . . .

To tell the truth, I'm not sure which one of us is right. You may want to ping others who saw the two deleted threads. I punched abuse on both of them.

As I'm not on FR staff, his punishment, if any, isn't up to me.

Oh man, just went to his FR homepage and apparently his personal website that he links his pictures to is "no more". I don't really understand this. He's been one of the most inovative and funny FR posters around here long before I arrived. I'm shocked that one incident would drive him off. Like dighton said, it was ONE lapse in judgement. I certainly hope he reconsiders and gets back to creating his great FR artwork.

I think expulsion would be pretty harsh for his post, especially since to my knowledge, he has never done anything terribly controversial before. Even I, the epitome of rectitude (not), have gotten a couple of "knock it off" emails from JimRob when I went overboard, in his opinion, on some of the "battle of the sexes" threads. Even though I found the Pearl picture threads grossly lacking in judgement, especially doing it the second time, I think a little time off to think about it would be more in keeping. Remember, the condemnation was not universal.

Excuse me, but as far as I'm concerned the image is absolutely fine to reprint, as it has been by every news outlet across America. Check the AP, check Reuters news service, the image is there. My initial post highlighted a message that I think Pearl was blatently sending out. He knew what he was doing when he did that..HE'S A JOURNALIST remember? I'm amazed at the amount of news censorship that you are recommending here.

After my first thread was pulled I posted the image without my comments thinking that I was accomodating their request (remember, I wasn't told WHY the thread was pulled, it was just pulled), they pulled the second one because the overly sensitive people here must think we are the only place where that image has been posted. It isn't. People should be able to view the image and evaluate it for themselves. I guess if being on FAB had so much weight to it I could get that done now couldn't I?

My first thought when I saw Danny's photo on TV news was that he was attempting to send a message with his hands. And the pic I reference was the first picture his captors released of him.

I'm surprised no one on FR pointed it out before you did, Registered.

I think it should have remained, but that is my opinion.

As for someone in this thread who is suggesting you be banned, I would like to point out who THEY have for friends, including the banned person who is bringing lawsuit against FR. In my opinion, the comments made on this thread saying Registered be banned come from Fahey via this person in an attempt to get rid of FR's strength.

I suggest who should be removed from FR be looked into. And it is not Registered. I am sure others would agree.
