I don't know. Does it matter?

My point is, life is too short to worry if Rush is a true conservative, or if Rush sold us out, or if Rush spends too much time talking about golf, football or whatever.

Rush is an entertainer, with a bias.

Who isn't "an entertainer" and who doesn't have "a bias"?

Consider the "guests" on other shows, they're "government grown". In Rush's case he is showing you what success really is, those who participated on Friday were a small example, yet very good idea of who these athletes really are. They showed us what personal desire can achieve, how success can benefit the economy, and the ways these people contribute back to where they came from with again the flaming desire to achieve a better society.

That's the football and golf the other "entertainers" don't care to bore their vast audiences with. Hannity's been in many of the golf tournaments, describes them, and his pictures are on site occasionally. Listen to him talk about the generosity of his community and the reasons why he decided to stay there instead of taking all of his money and moving to Naples.

I wasn't at all surprised when Rush plugged the spin nut for tight future competition. And I wasn't surprised to hear Matthews whine about the contract he signed a year ago. Rush wants to buy an NFL team and Matthews feels like he was cheated.

Do you catch Hannity on 550AM out of Gainesville from 3 till 6. Conservative talk radio from 9AM until 6PM. Can't beat it.

Absolutely. All day long.

Yes, Rush has strayed from the balustrade, I'm afraid. Perhaps it is just the medications.

you need not hold my views, nor i, yours, to be friends. unlike many on this forum i'm not into flaming people.

my view is that both oppositional ways of dealing with things are obsolete; the world is not black and white.

i reject the dem-socialist class issue while rejecting the allegedly conservative view that we're all equal, if you don't succeed, it's your fault. such an agrument flies in the face of common sense and everyday experience, and does conservativism no favors.

i'm the one who brought up the ghe-tto as a counter example. since you didn't like that one, i'll chose another counter example to rush:

sally, a white chick rush's age, grew up also in cape girardeau. her mother divorced a jerk and struggled to bring up her kids the best that she could. sally barely graduated from high school and worked at a local convenience store.

meanwhile rush, according to his own words, grew up upper-middle class with a lawyer father. rush brags how he and his father bonded while his father piloted the family plane; indeed, he owes all of his conservative knowledge which he passes on to listeners to his father and those father-son plane flight discussions.

it takes no intellectual heavy-lifting to see the what you see around you everyday: the sallys of the world are not going to "compete" with the rushes. an unstable emotional and financial upbringing does not yield a rush limbaugh, katie couric, dan rather or whatever.

i enjoyed rush in 1990 when there were few conservative views on the air, and especially when the clintons assumed office in 1993. but i'm tired of rush and his inflated persona.

i stopped listening to him when he said that hillary was not running for the u.s. senate.

senor ken.

"BTW, you are 100% wrong. My assets have more zeros at the end than yours do.

If I jumped the gun about you I apoligize. As far as your assets are concerned, you don't know me and I don't you, so such claims are irrelevant at best.

Well said. But such common sense went out of style with the passing of giants like Russell Kirk and Mel Bradford, who never saw conservatism as being about avarice and pride. But what did they know.... after all, this current crop worships at the altar of Success and Fame, and if they crack open a book it's a mystery novel or a golf rag.

gracias.

i opened this up, fully expecting to be flamed again.

funny, you mention people worshipping at the altar of success and fame. you are correct, that is a major cause of our problems today.

i see it everyday here in california...the california patio lizards and their incessant drive for success and consumerism.

i'm trying to simplify my life.

Yes he is, but it is because he gets to talk about what he wants to talk about!

I believe Rush has tried to model that while a passion for the nation and its politics is a good thing, there is more to life.

His chatter about cigars, golf, "the lovely Marta," and football are his way of saying look--don't bury yourself in the latest outrage from the skunks at DNC-- God gave you a life...live it!

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Life should not be all about politics. That's for the liberals, always thinking of everything in the political manner.

Then too, of course, it IS SuperBowl Week. Relax.

Yeah, the All-Star game was yesterday, too. Great time watching Dominik & Scotty.

Then you never heard Rush's Ted Kennedy "I'm a Wonderer"?

From the grooveyard of forgotten favorites...

Oh, well I'm the type of guy
Who never settles down
Wherever pretty girls are, you know I'm around
I kiss 'em and I hug 'em
'Cause to me they're all the same
I get so gosh darn hammered, I don't even know my name
'Cause I'm a philanderer

Rush has always liked football (they called him Rush the Toe in high school football), and his hearing problem has gotten big play around the country. BTW I played a new rush trivia w/pics and sounds yesterday, trippy, at click here. Anyway, libs want to put down EL Rushbo (a little spanish lingo there) because the election's coming soon. More than likely you're just beginning what's likely to be a snowball of Rush put downs. It aint gonna work....

Huh? How frequently do you listen to his program? Rush frequently speaks ill of Republicans if they are weak-spined or wrong. He seldom spares the Republicans-in-name-only (which he and others call RINOs) and frequently points out mistakes Republicans have made in their dealings with liberals of all parties. Rush is Republican, but he is a conservative first. If a Republican begins spouting liberal nonsense or does something illegal or unethical, Rush does not spare him or her. Tune in more often or read his articles on his website. THEN you may come back and say he's a party hack.

I agree Rush has always talked about RINOs and socialists in the republican party. I guess you just do not listen to his show.

The last few years there has been less and less humor on Rush's show. He used to have Feminazi, animal rights wack-o, environmentalist wack-o, and Barney Frank homosexual updates daily -- each accompanied by a musical parody. I miss the humor.
