137 sites which reference this article.......... do I need more?

No. You just need one that cites a reference. 137 references to this one kid's book is one dubious reference, no matter how many times it's put on a web page.

Is this the state of conservatism? Question nothing? If it feels good, believe it? Sad.

Then you think the government was entitled to claim this land in the first place?

You did not question, you said this was not true. To complete your error, you offered no proof while plenty of fact was offered to you. Now if you want to continue your assinine ways, put up or shut the hell up.

I dare anyone to find a source for this story which does not derive from Mr. Ellis's little book.

Another asinine statement. I offered you a treatise which implicitly stated that Ellis was a writer for ADULTS.

No fact was offered. All we have established is that a 19th century writer of children's books and dime store adventures published this story. I don't recall any other corroberration. If that's enough proof for you....bwahahahahaaa!!

The book is in print. Has been for over a hundred years, unlike your own prose. You have found a refutation of Ellis' work?

Is that your standard? So Captain Ahab was real. Treasure Island, too. Right?

Again, I offered you a treatise that said he was writing for ADULTS during this time frame. Can you refute? No, I didn't think so. It is far easier to run off at the mouth than actually sit down and write a treatise.

This book was never called nor was it implied to be a work of fiction. So, your point is?

In your best BS stock answer, you forgot to answer the last part of my question. Have you found a refutation of Ellis' work? Well, we are all waiting at rapt attention.

You know, when I first started reading it I didn't know it was a reference to Davey Crockett, but I knew after a line or two that it had to have been written more than 100 years ago. No one today is this eloquent, not our highest-paid professors, not our savviest speech-writers. Hardly a man today can speak this way.

A refutation of a dime store children's writer? No, I don't happen to have one handy. LOL. Refute this: you have one solitary source for this story. You cannot corroberate it with any newspaper, or the Congressional Record. And yet, you have no problem taking it as fact. Refute that if you can.

Now, hmmm, why would you be so apt to believe it? Couldn't be because it appeals to you on an emotional level, i.e., you want it to be true, could it? If I found a book saying Thomas Jefferson was a traitor against his country (such writings existed in his own time), would you take it as fact, on its face? Or would you question it? Hmmm? And yet, you play this game as if I need to find a refutation of this little fable. Why should I? If you care so much about it, find some evidence. Prove me wrong. But you can't.

They reference the story but do not vouch for it. The only record seems to be this one book.

Is "Huck" from Huckleberry Finn; from the book by that children/fiction writer MARK TWAIN?

Yes and I have seen many supporting documents for it. Not to mention first hand knowledge.

So the Bible, in your opinion, will pass your test "They reference the story but do not vouch for it."?
