It may not be our fight, but, without the United States, Israel would be in huge trouble. That's why I support Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. --Psalms 122:1

I support Israel, and pray for the peace of Jerusalem, also.

But that support does not extend to stealing my fellow-citizen's money to fund a cause he may or may not support.

Robbing your neighbor, even to fund the most "charitable" of causes, is deliberate God-hating blasphemy. Israel might be entitled to your support, but she is not entitled to your willful violation of God's Eighth Commandment on her "behalf".

You DO NOT bless Israel by making her the recipient of extorted blood-money. Instead, you make her your accomplice in Theft, which is cursing her.

And all that said, I vigorously dispute this idea that extorted foreign-aid monies do Israel any good in the first place. In the first place, they do prop up her Socialist government's control of the economy; without these handouts, Israel would have to become far more capitalistic economically (which, given five years to adjust, would be a very great blessing to her); and in the second, dependence on US foreign aid means that Israeli politicians must come hat-in-hand to big Uncle Sugar Daddy, who then tells them that they must grovel to, and kiss the posteriors of, the likes of terrorists and dictators. Some "support" you're giving Israel, huh.

If not for the slow poison of US financial "support", Israel would've had the national gumption to tell Yassir Arafat to Go Hang - literally - a long time ago.

You lost me with two things. First, the typical libertarian platform rant. This is about Israel, not libertarian philosophy. This is about how it stands and what is right now, NOT what someone wishes it to be. Second, the blame-America-first stance.

Fuhgedaboudit. There's our split. A huge, irreconciliable split.

Nuff said.

Have you considered that if Israel didn't have to spend 10% of GDP on defence (and up to 20% in the past) because it is surrounded by militant Arab states (some also receiving arms aid from the USA now and the USSR previously) then Israel could get along nicely without US aid.

The sum total of US aid to the Arabs is many times that given to Israel and if it were to be reduced the first to complain would be Boeing, Loral, Raytheon and friends.
