. "I missed John Wayne. But now I think...he’s back," gushed Peggy Noonan in The Wall Street Journal.

I believe this writer has totally missed the point. Noonan and others have given credit to females involved in the heroism, (Maybe not while supporting maleness, as in this article). The fems have a problem like all the left has, not being willing to rationalize their left coalition support with their primary political goals. In the case of the shoe bomber, the two flight attendants saw the problem and actied quickly but they (because of his size and strength) needed to get support from some men who were on the scene. No issue here, the females were heros, but man's strength had to be countered with additional force. (Had the flight attendants been armed, the perp might have been subdued without the male assistance -- but this is another of the left's losing issues) No, Cathy will not be able to defent the traditional femanist positions, since 9-11 they are basically unsupportable.

The left coalition will fracture over this and a host of other losing issues. And I am happy to see this.

I think you missed the author's point. Cathy Young doesn't defend mainstream feminism; she's a critic of mainstream feminism.
