BARBARA OLSON, CONSERVATIVE HERO IN BATTLE AGAINST ISLAMIC TERROR AND CLINTON CRIMES, IGNORED ON NBC

Our hero Barbara Olson who died while calling for advice and help in the crash into the Pentagon (we assume she must have been fighting to the last) is certainly the most prominent casualty of the September 11, 2001 terror attack.

(By the way, I find it nauseating when people, and the networks in particular, refer to it as a "tragedy." In this context, "tragedy" might be appropriate to deaths due to an accidentally set fire, or a plane crashing due strictly to mechanical failure. It is not merely a tragedy when Arab fanatics turn airplanes into missiles, crash into a couple of buildings and kill thousands of innocent civilians. There are many words that might begin to approximate the event, but tragedy cannot be one of them, and I resent its use almost exclusively by those on the left.)

Not only is she the most prominent, but she is also the wife of one of the top U.S. government officials, the attorney who represented candidate George Bush in the contested Florida election before the Supreme Court, and above all a stalwart, perfectly relentless fighter against the corruption of the government by the Clinton's, who left her husband at home on the day of the fateful flight to once again do battle in an out-of-town television interview on ABC's Politically Incorrect show, presumably in order to advance the thesis of her about to be released book, The Final Days (how ironic the name), which was the follow-up to her first Clinton book, Hell to Pay (more irony since there has been a lot of hell to pay from the Clinton treacheries--and it will not only be the Islamic maniacs, who were enabled to do what they did on September 11, 2001 by the Clinton perfidies, who will someday have hell to pay). Whatever one's politics, one has to acknowledge that hers is arguably the most significant death of the year, what with her dying directly at the hands of the terrorists and indirectly at the hands of the Clintons.

Despite this fact, NBC news divisions have apparently made the decision not to include Barbara Olson in their visual obituaries or profiles of the most important Americans to die in 2001. At least, I can find no instance of their doing so among the shows that I have seen thus far. Were things reversed and had this been a Democrat administration, it would be unthinkable that the president would permit a hero of the left to go unsung. Clinton would never have let any network get away with failing to mention one of his partners in crime. Is not one of our virtuous heroes deserving of nothing less? Should not President Bush takeup the slack and speak of the courage of our fallen hero who we know risked her life and died fighting for information on that hijacked plane and in all likelihood--if there was any opportunity at all--must have died kicking and scratching and throwing that cellphone at one of the terrorists? Let's roll is great, but making sure that Clintons and the terrorists had hell to pay is unsurpassed.

NBC is truly the worst, most corrupt, of the networks although with dishonest men such as Dan Rather, Peter Jennings and Ted Koppel et al on CBS and ABC, there are several very close seconds.

Please think of this when you decide which network to watch--that is, if (unlike this writer) you are still watching the network news at all.

Please note that as the counterpart to Barbara Olson's heroism, there is the behavior of former Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Crowe which has raised questions about whether he sold out his country for stock in the Arab-owned corporations which control US anthrax stockpiles. See yesterday's Elenchus File original report using the timeline to place Admiral Crowe's anthrax stock deal together with an alleged betrayal of America in letting Arab investors gain control of America's principle source of the deadliest forms of anthrax as well as the anthrax virus--and US citizenship for the Arab corporate chieftan to top it off. The report then couples these coincident events with Clinton's appointment of Admiral Crowe as Ambassador to Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Last nite on Fox they had a quickie special salute to those who dies during 2001. Was it just me or did they seem to go thru Barbara Olson might fast while showing multiple pics of most everybody else. The segment ended with George Harrison's pic up there - which was cool cause I always dug the Beatles. But based on the selection of the last pic, my guess is even Fox has its share of leftist editors. Maybe I'm just paranoid but boy did they whiz by Olson's name and pic.

I don't want to be picky or anything, but I can't even find the usual year-end list of "this year's dead" on MSNBC.com at all. I'll admit I'm intentionally ignoring the TV news for the next day or so, because I always find the Dec. 31 - Jan. 1 combination of empty New Year's party coverage and "looks back" at the prior 365 days to be exceedingly dull.

And I have to vehemently disagree that NBC is the "worst, most corrupt" of the Big Three. I think ABC and CBS are demonstrably far more to the left than NBC.

That said, it is incredibly sad that NBC doesn't include BKO in their list of prominent Americans who lost their lives this year, if indeed they are not including her. Fox includes Olson - I had hoped they would end with her, but I think they went by date of death.

Barbara Olson is as inspiring today as she was prior to her death. My heartfelt prayers are with Ted and her family and friends.

I think we just have to accept that in the grand mess that was 9/11, Barbara Olson is a mere footnote. And it doesn't have anything to do with her politics. One could easily make the argument that they should focus on her even less, since there were dozens of other people on that plane too who got no recognition at all.

Despicable. Purely despicable. I do so try not to use words like this, but in this case -- well, damn it, NBC just plain sucks!! I hope FOX decides to ignore that SOB in their retrospective after he croaks! I know I'll be ignoring him. He has become like Arafat -- "irrelevant!"

Barbara K. Olson is no less a hero than all the others who valiantly fought to save lives on 9/11. She is, most decidedly, our FReeper Guardian Angel.

Barbara Olson was a great woman. I have read "The Final Days," and it is an exhaustive and damning indictment not just of the final few weeks of the Clinton Presidency but of the former first couple in general.

That said, if you want to compare her "star power" to George Harrison and many other "celebrities" who died this past year, she comes up way short.

I would only take offense if lesser lights of the left who died in this past year receive more prominence.

Agreed, Endeavor, that none of us wants the president controlling the media, That is not what I meant. The president, just by virtue of being president, attracts the media--particularly at this time. President Bush could step out and say a prayer--for Barbara; in fact Ted Olson is probably more in need of the nation's prayers at this time! I am not very worried that President Bush will use the opportunity to take over the media.

Simply at will, the president could insure that the media informs the American public about this fallen hero. Does he owe any less to his Solicitor General, to impress the memory of his beautiful and smart and good wife on the mind of the American public--merely because she objectively deserved it?

By the way, I meant to remind everyone that it was on Ted Olson's birthday that his wife's was murdered in that hijacked plane.

I would imagine that the absence of unique tape was the cause of that. Political commentators are on TV to talk. Multiple shots of pundit footage may have seemed a bit much, and come off looking silly. In this case, I feel that less was more. Perhaps the editors thought so as well?

NBC ignored (killed) the Broderick story also. They won't air much on Barbara because she is everthing they despise. NBC mangement and their talking heads are not much better than puke in my book. I boycott EVERTHING the networks air, including MTP, sitcoms, everything! All I need for news is FreeRepublic and Fox news (not even Drudge, who FR often scoops).

Barbara Olson was one of those rare few who was both a great Republican and a true American hero. The RNC should have Fox News devote a special show just to her memory.

Well, start taking offense. Again we are talking about NBC-related material. There is no absence of focus on the sister of Katie Couric who died this year, a wild leftist activist/politician virtually unknown outside the state of Virginia. She got attention today, even on Fox, while NBC omitted mention of Barbara Olson.

I thought it was just me, but I agree that BKO is given less time than the others. At least they put her in there. I never watch network news anymore so I have no clue what the others are doing.

One of the few network show I watch is Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. He also profiled about 25 famous and semi-famous people who died in 2001. Come to think of it, he did not mention Barbara Olson either. However, I am going to defend the editorial decisions of the networks just this once. This is pure speculation but my guess is that they have separated the horrible losses the country experienced on 9-11 from the traditional year-end shows in which they profile the famous who left us the previous year. Just a thought.
