Tony Snow just made an interesting comment on Fox News on our "friends" the Saudis, suggesting that if we start encouraging democracy there the ruling Saudi royals have a whole lot more to lose than we do. They must be very concerned about this new tape...I noticed a full page "We're With You" color ad in yesterday's USA Today placed by the Saudi government... They were obviously tipped off about the content of the tape and are justifiably worried about the growing perception in this country that they are a corrupt, arrogant monachy which is more part of the problem than the solution. The winds of freedom and democracy need to sweep through the Mideast, just as they have swept through the old Soviet evil empire.
