Also, the Gore Commission called for increased airline security, including making baggage screeners into dedicated public servants like police and firefighters, rather than minimum-wage temps. George W. Bush remains unwilling to stand up to the right wing of his party, which vehemently opposes expanding the federal workforce, regardless of the cost to American security. In fact, a strong case can be made that Al Gore might have even PREVENTED the terrorist attack on September 11.

President Gore might have strengthened airline security, following the advice of his own commission's report on that topic. This might have prevented terrorists with boxcutters from boarding the planes in the first place, or from gaining access to the cockpits.

Yes, but the *best* part was Rumsfeld yelling at Al and scaring him. :-D

11. Gore would be much more willing to paint a target on his back and go play hide-and-seek in Tora Bora.

He's not *bad* looking, but knowing what a wimp he is makes him devoid of all attractiveness.

For the most part, if they're sincere about it (not trying to score) they're spineless wimps who want women to boss them around. I think it might be some sicko means of accepting "punishment" for all the societal inequities perpetrated on women throughout the ages.

No he wouldn't have, asshole. Seeing that the White House was a target, then it's up to the Secret Service to protect the President by keeping him away from danger. Bush had no say in his where he was taken.

That's an idiotic statement. The commander-in-chief doesn't take orders from the Secret Service. Bush could have gone anywhere he wanted that afternoon. And Ari has said they had no hard evidence of further threats to the White House after the Pentagon crash.

Like, gag me WITH a spoon!! What a bunch of crock. Although I confess that I also don't care for President Bush's platitude-filled speeches (who the hell writes his stuff anyway-- he needs a new speech writer!!), I'll take his any day over patronizing Al Gore and his talk-down mode to the American people underlings. And anything is better than Clinton and his smarmy, fake smirking and used car salesman delivery. Ick.

Al Gore would be speaking to the American people. He would not have waited for two days to properly address the nation.

Two days? More like 10 hours between the attacks and Bush's address to the nation. I guess it means how you define "properly", huh?
