One of the Things i will always remember was a Conversation I had with a bunch of Pittsburgh Steeler Fans when the piece of shit Art Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore (May he Rot in Hell) They always came to the Browns games and we had a running feud on whose team was best and all the hubub between rival Nfl teams! The Chant "Pittsburgh Sucks" was a fan favorite! (When Cleveland Stadium took up that Chant you could damn near hear it all the way to Akron!)

Anyhow I dreaded meeting up with these guys when the announcement became official and Art was taking the beloved Browns away! I figured they would rub it in and I was really in no mood for their gloating. Finally the face to face came and much to my surprise they were outraged, they were absolutely outraged and I will never forget these words:

"We Hate the Cleveland Browns... and we wanna continue to HATE the CLEVELAND Browns not the f&%$*#@ Baltimore Browns! AND, We hope Art Modell F&%$*#@ Dies!"

Well the Browns went away and it looked like CLeveland would never get football back! Then by persistance and BS and many long negotiations The Cleveland Fans got back the Browns and we got Season tickets again. I went to the preseason games and though the stadium was nice it just didn't feel right! Then came opening day against Pittsburgh and lo and behold my old rival Pittsburgh buddies showed up and had a present that damn near brought tears to my eyes! They had stopped on the way in and bought a t-shirt at one of those little kiosks that sell souviners!

Its a Black t-shirt with huge white letters that says:

Pittsburgh STILL Sucks

If a sentence doesn't end with "'nat," it ends with "you know."

You know you're from Pittsburgh if the sight of orange barrels and hopeless traffic jams makes you homesick.

Well, I am a Gints fan who now lives inda Burgh. And while I will always be a Gints fan, the Browns-Stillers rivalry is damned fun. I actually *like* both sides, but love egging them on.

Now that a few years have passed, doesn't it seem as if your comment that "it wasn't the same" doesn't fit anymore? The Browns are back.

My husband's from just outside Pittsburgh. Did I miss "yens" in your list? As in, "When yens comin' over for dinner?" My father-in-law loved to frequent the "Beer Garden." He'd drop off my mother-in-law at Mass every Sunday and head over to the beer garden. I'm from the West where we referred to such establishments as BARS.

Do they still have 1-900-FAT-GIRL commercials during the TV hit "Bowling for Dollars?"

Also, another unique custom: When one dies, it is the custom to place in the coffin of the deceased a favorite item of his/hers. When my father in-law died, we asked permission from the funeral home to place a deck of cards, chewing tobacco and a bottle of beer in the coffin with him. They said that would be a lot easier to handle than the full set of golf clubs they managed to pack away with one guy.
