John/Jim would you please list the changes that Free Republic has had in just the last two years. "FR has basically been untouched for the past couple years. If it were redesigned or even just improved it would go a long way towards attracting new members and improving the Freeping experience."
I understand that some hardware may have been purchased and some minor things may have been adjusted but the code is still very very old. The pages are still rendered in HTML 4.01 (not XHTML) which could cause them to load slower and look odd on some machines. I'm not a troll or anything I'm just wondering why there haven't been any significant front-side updates (who knows what has happened on the backend). I know there are probably a lot of programmers/coders on FR that would be more than glad to help... and I understand that FR probably uses a from scratch system to avoid attacks and exploits. Just some thoughts.

Have you visited the home page recently?
We have had a lot of changes in the past year. In fact many of the old timers complain about the changes.
We will let John Rob answer your question re changes.
