As a kid watching the original "Lost In Space" series, I always thought Dr. Smith was, um, wierd. Of course, given to my lack of exposure and experience, I couldn't quite put my finger on what "it" was. After I matured, however, I discovered that what had passed earlier for "wierd" transmogrified into "NAMBLA member."

...and I never learned how to spell "weird."

One of the funniest bits I ever heard on the Howard Stern show had to do with Dr. Smith and Will Robinson.... OH DEAR!

scrolling thru the thread about Lost In Space and got to the Billy Mumy pic. Stopped me cold for a minute and then I called my son and asked him when the pic was taken. He did a doubletake and I had to tell him who it was - alike enough to be twins down to the color and length of hair and the style of beard. My daughter in Law truly freaked took ker about a minute to turn to my sona say "that's not you who is it." Stranger and stranger.

Funny story!

Bill actually lives in my neck of the woods. The hair is shorter now and the beard is gone.

I confess! Billy Mumy is the man!! :) One of my favorite episodes is where they finally get back to Earth, but they've gone through a time warp where Earth is stuck back in the 1930s or 40s. They have to leave because the Earthlings think they are aliens.

I also liked the hippie rock n roll planet episode....NOT! Although Dr. Smith was pretty hip with his long hair and love beads.

Maybe with this new show, they will finally get back to Earth for keeps, and I can "achieve closure." :)
