Also, I understand that Islam reveres Jesus. Islam doesn't see Jesus as the son of God by he is the messiah (I thought the two were the same)? I have read that Islam believes in the virgin birth, but if Islam does not see Jesus as the son of God, how do Muslims understand the virgin birth.

Islam does not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, they do not believe in His ressurection, nor do they belive scripture when it says that when Jesus returns that Jesus will kill everyone who is gathered against Israel, they believe Jesus is going to kill Israel! Several Muslims I know told me this to my face!
