Win or lose, I'm in it for the long-haul.
Jim, best of luck with that, and I admire you for going through it all the way. Litigation is never fun.
BTW, I happened to notice tonight -- this thread here that you've started was rather prominently featured on the Dem site www.buzzflash.com
I can't recall the exact headline they wrote on their site, but I was surprised to see it right there in the center of that particular page.
To: Inspector Harry Callahan
Good to see you back Callahan. Place was'nt the same without you.
To: Fred Mertz
LOL, Fred. Too many long hours spent at work. The legal tab y'all have to pay for the bogus lawsuit is $105,000 big ones.
To: sit-rep
My site is a project....where is your creativity? Merely establishing a board isn't "creative;" it's like plugging a guitar into an amp and turning the power on.
The "creativity" results from the postings; the "music," as it were.
You faulted the quality of the the posts on FR; I returned the compliment.
So what's the deal, sit? You judge, but must not be judged, lest your posters' feelings are hurt?
Like I said: YOU GUYS!
To: Sam Spade
who really cares what you think. Run back to eschoir!
To: TLBSHOW
I bow to your lack of intellect, sir.
To: an amused spectator

It's obvious that you're not a lawyer, and you're not a computer geek, and you're not a businessman. So what exactly are you? A whining Web naif, stuck in a backwater Net ghetto - exactly where the rest of us will end up if the media giants con the courts into their bogus "copyright" claims.
Post a paragraph of one of their articles in a manner that "offends" them and you'll be lucky to get a one or two-line email "politely asking" you to remove it and never to do it again. If you're unlucky, well - they'll already have a decision in hand, won't they?
Fool.
As for LMC - wipe the drool off your face, man - you're embarrassing yourself.

I agree a fee should be charged. I suggest somewhere around $35 to $60 per year. I've donated this much or more, but I'd like to think that the disruptors would have to pay too. Making the site free, and then soliciting donations, is too much like socialism.

Remember all those funny threads we used to post late at night? I wonder if any of them are still in existence? Yep. I happened to run across one a few weeks ago. Check this out:
I like Republicans! They are nice.
That was sarcasm at its finest, Cindy! LOL.
To: Sam Spade
Oh my gosh.... IC!! This IS a flash from the past! How are you? Nice to see you too! :-)
To: Howlin
Dear Diary,
I had a busy day today. I was back on FR and I jumped at the chance. I started to post and remembered the good old days and how much worse things are now.
I said I would stop posting earlier in the day, but I could not. After I said I had no intention of posting or donating, I made an additional 50+ posts on the operation of FR and how it is lacking.
I just could not help myself. I like FR and I enjoy the exchange of ideas. What I don't like is that it is not run the way I like it. And that makes me so mad, I just want to scream!
Diary, what do I do? I need all this attention, but I can't stop posting to the forum I most like to criticize. I tried to make up some rubbish about being the leader of a group of conservatives in the good old days, but I did not feel any better.
I really need FR. What do I do?

Mr. Keyes would more than likely tell all of you obsessed folks to get a life. And I would concur.
To: Arator
Oh NO!! Not that thread! I was hoping that one was deleted.... heheh.
All the pics are gone!
To: aligyrl-02
In the big picture, $105K is small potatoes. Of course, that's just my humble opinion.

And request admission to our new private by-invitation-only forum.
Your former host (and future co-host?),
Arator
Ok put up or shut up lets have the password and prove you are not a fraud arator?
Freepmail me and Howlin the password. And John and Jim too since they are the accused by that gang of yours.
To: TLBSHOW
WHAT A TEAM YOU 3 MAKE AT YOUR SITE THAT YOU SAID IS GONE? well thats what you told Howlin. Did you fib? (Yawn) And what site might that be, pray tell?
(Note: Reunion Reformation is Flem Snope's site, not mine. FRU Reunion is Sourmash's site, not mine.)
My site was FReeper Reunion, now defunct. And your point was...?
To: Fury
You nailed him. Spot on!
To: Arator
I just get a lot of undeserved attention. LOL!
***Ummmm, Arator, remember all those vanities you posted? And what about the marine guy on every thread dragging people to vote in your poll? ***
LOL!

Thats great! Good work FReepers as we end this BS from the rats!
To: Sam Spade
but I do remember that I didn't know whether the Howlin there was an impostor or not and specifically said so in this sentence. I'm not questioning YOU about it; I'm merely restating the fact that, even when you posted your reply, he KNEW it wasn't me posting over there. And he had known since before lunch.
