Tobacco and alcohol are by far and away the biggest killers and the most disruptive of society. Let's ban 'em, ehy?

someone needs to protect the unprotected? so the government is to be our caretaker? Now who is the liberal sorry pal - I choose freedom, and the responsibility it entails

Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member. No. But it might make you intolerant of people who disagree with your moral/religious beliefs. Do you have a right not to be offended?

Christian Conservatives like you and I make up a pretty good chunk of FR from my experience. You just have to be prepared to duel with the Libertarians if you want to opine here. They may have a plurality here...slightly.
But there are plenty of others....Paleos, Liberal Disruptors, Chrisitan Identity/National Alliance Kooks (who get banned promptly), Jewish Conservatives, Black Conservatives, Non-Objectivist Constitutionalists, .....it goes on and on but you are correct. The two loudest voices are our camp and theirs. Plus the founders and moderators are admittedly Constitutionalists/Libertarians...but it is their site.
Just hang in there. Quite a few Libertarians no matter how misguided are actually quite bright and well read. It is possible to learn something from them....remember they are convinced that they carry the mantle of the Founding Fathers and folks like us are really more facist than conservative.
And to think the media views the right as monolithic...they outta spend more time here.

I was contacted by LIBERAL email, early last year, when the Liberals wanted me to sign a petition to get the UN to impose sanctions on the Taliban, because of their Burqua policy, etc. I tried to point out to the above list that sanctions don't work-- they said I must be crazy. Now the Liberals aren't happy because the Conservatives decided to actually DO something about the problem.

Yeah...everybody wants a bunch of Appalachian snake-handlers remaking America in the image of their religious beliefs.
KEEP YOUR RELIGION OUT OF MY LIFE!!!! (and I will do the same)

As time goes on more republican/conservatives that want a truly free republic are seeing the party as filled with liars and frauds. Look at the last election in N.J. for a perfect example of how the party screwed over one of their own. A conservative catholic and everyone ignored him and at worst helped him get defeated. Even the national party ignored him and did not help him raise funds. You can get upset at libertarians all you want but we did not help kill a christian conservative who had a chance to take over N.J.

No one has the right to destroy the moral fabric of society, and that is what those things do.Ah, but there is the rub. Which "moral fabric" to enforce? I smoke pot, I work hard, I haven't missed a day of work all year, I pay my taxes, and I vote primarily Republican. How am I damaging this "moral fabric"? You want me to go to prison for this?

Try reading the book,"What It Means To Be A Liberatarian". I am not one, but they have some good points. It is good to study the lay of the land.

Whew, thank goodness this is only a "What's wrong with FR thread". Well in that case, here's the only thing I don't like about FreeRepublic. I hate when I post something brilliant and nobody replies to me. It's like talking down a well or something. Know what I mean?
Well, do you?
Hello?
Helloooo? (echo, echo, echo) . . .

Methinks a can-o-worms has been opened.
To: FF578
There are still some of us who want to take things back the way they should be.
Well, you could always go create your own forum, make your own rules, and get rid of anyone that doesn't agree with your opinion. Oh, but then it wouldn't be a free republic, wouldn't it?

"well our Founding fathers disagreed with you. You are free to do things as long as they do not harm society."
Oh
no.
This thread can be made more ridiculous than it already is ... with just a little nudging ....

Yeah...everybody wants a bunch of Appalachian snake-handlers remaking America in the image of their religious beliefs. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-)
