No surprise here.
-
It's cheaper to watch fishing shows on TV than go fishing.
-
It's cheaper to watch golf than go golfing.
-
It's cheaper to watch illicit sex than . . . oh, never mind!

No Hard Times For Adult Film Biz That headline seems wrong considering the content of the story. It sounds like there is a shortage of "hard times"...
It seems to imply that business is "dropping off" (maybe from a lack of interest).
Note: Films portraying just women are unaffected by this shrinking market performance...

The industry is able to weather tough economic times on the production side because they have small budgets, use small crews and minimal sets. ...not to mention the savings on costumes.

last week zogby was on the radio saying that church attendance was up 50% across all denominations since 9/11. and the porn industry is up 20%

On a serious note, does anyone know how someone could invest in adult industries? It does seem that they are recession-proof. I would guess they are good investments.

I think this industry is much bigger than the 4 billion dollars that they are able to count or document. Especially if you count prostitution which is the exact same 'industry'.

I do not agree with the Supreme Court that making adult films is a "right" protected under the free speech clause of the Constitution. It is a purient activity that erodes the morale fabric of society.
I know that the USSC will probably never override the previous decisions, but crap like this should be made illegal in this country.

Goody! Another SEX thread. There's nothing else going on in the world, so let's talk about Wunderbriefs and porno movies! How about a big neon sign saying "ALL NUDE ALL THE TIME! YOWZA YOWZA YOWZA! STEP RIGHT UP!!! SEX SEX SEX"
I don't understand why people pollute their cyber-neighborhood with crud they'd never tolerate near their homes. I for one don't want FR to turn into the magazine rack at 7-11.

No Hard Times For Adult Film BizWithout "hard times" the porn industry couldn't survive.

Thank heavens L.A.'s adult industry remains upright and vigorous. Kudos to you.
It must be a tough job investigating pornography, but somebody has to do it.
