To my fellow Vets, Thank You and Welcome Home. Salute.

There is another group of Vets that generally go unrecognized. These are the husbands, wives, girlfriends and boyfriends of those who answered the call and maintained a loving touch of home. Thank You.

Salute.

Some of you are getting pinged more than once, but you only have to answer one. :^)

DaisyScarlett posted this at the Canteen yesterday - I wanted to add it to the Veteran's Thread.

I found this picture of some of the crew of the USS Theodore Roosevelt who are serving today in the Persian Gulf. To all of those who have contributed to the GUILD CARE package and Christmas stocking project, this is where our "stuff" is going. Copies of this USO thread are also being sent to these fine young men.

Crew members of the USS Theodore Roosevelt cheer as they watch a closed circuit broadcast to the crew of successful bombing runs against Taliban targets in Afghanistan, November 9, 2001. The footage they watched was shot by Navy and Marine pilots making the runs from the aircraft carrier operating in the Arabian Sea. The seaman wearing the red shirts prepare the bombs that are loaded on the aircraft. REUTERS/POOL/Dave Martin

A Navy Vet posted this to me this morning on the Homeland Defense Thread.

I'm off to take the oath this morning. It'll be strange to be in uniform again after 14 years.
Word is out the CGAUX Divsion 2
will be increasing number of patrols in and around Long Beach/LA Harbor

...even more than they already have - just in time for the Holidays and heavy weather.
Think I might take back that "thanks for the heads up" about CGAUX (Coast Guard Auxiliary)...LOL.

I can't thank you enough for your help today. Not everyone knows the trouble I had trying to get this posted today. But for you, it still wouldn't be posted. Thank you.

For those who don't know, I've been almost in tears - I tried for almost 5 hours to post this thread, starting this morning at 9 A.M. CST. Couldn't get past the Preview without timing out. Anyway, Jim, wish I could give you a big hug in person for posting it for me.

Billie, your work on this thread is magnificent (as always)!

Snow Bunny, this is worth repeating...."On this Veteran's Day, from the bottom of our hearts and the depth of our soul, Thank you Veteran, welcome home, job well done, we are so very proud of you!"

To ALL Vets, words can not express how grateful I am to you for all you have done to protect, honor, and defend the land that I love. God bless you all!!!

Thanks for this thread and for the great job you are doing with the USO Canteen Freeper Style threads. They are very much appreciated.

And I'll also add my thanks and a salute to all our Vets and men and women currently on active duty. May God bless you and protect you, wherever you are.

Thank you, Billie for honoring our VETS with such a wonderful tribute.

I will never forget the feeling I had seeing Old Glory waving on top a building at Yungsan Base in Seoul, S. Korea. I will never forget how I thanked God at that time that I am an American who loves the Republic of the United States, and who is forever grateful for the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform.

God bless us all!

I was just reading the last thread of Chief Negotiator. Of course, getting to the last post (which was yours) says a whole lot about what today is all about. There is a brotherhood that extends far beyond individuals and reaches deep within the heart of humanity. It's a beautiful thing, Tonk. Thank you and all the others for keeping it's spirit alive.
