Washington, D.C., should stop trying to control guns and start controlling suspicious aliens.
Since our nation's birth, homeland security has been the responsibility of every law-abiding citizen (as well as your government's). It still is.
Sept. 11 should've taught you the feds' alphabet soup intelligence-gathering agencies couldn't protect you. So who's left to look out for you and your family?
The recent arrest of a Lebanese national with an expired visa who allegedly was carrying a box cutter while boarding at Pittsburgh International Airport is another chilling reminder that your government has failed to keep an eye on illegal aliens who could be acting suspiciously.
Will Washington ever learn the lesson of Sept. 11? (Come to think of it, will you?)
While not suggesting there are any clues tying the suspect to Middle Eastern terrorists, I am suggesting our government probably is clueless about him as well as countless others with expired visas.
So far, the feds have failed to make a connection between the terrorists and hundreds of Middle Eastern suspects being detained for questioning. Our judicial system will not - and should not - tolerate their perpetual incarceration just to keep suspicious-looking people off our streets.
As a last resort, the feds have turned to you for help, to be their eyes and ears in the tri-state area. We all are security guards.
What type do you want to be: an unarmed mall security guard or an armed bank guard?
If ever there was a time for lovers of the Second Amendment to act, it is now. Since ultimately we're responsible for our own protection, is there a better time to unleash the shackles the gun-grabbers have put on freedom?
Now is the time for the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, the Allegheny County Sportsmen's League and other pro-freedom organizations to lobby actively for the repeal of the (Sarah) Brady Bill - as well as every other law preventing you from guarding your family and yourself.
Gun-grabbers ghoulishly wait for tragedies such as the Columbine school shooting and other gun-related incidents to feed off of them - the way maggots feed off of death.
The liberal's spin is that confiscating guns of law-abiding citizens is the only answer. Of course, it's all left-wing propaganda.
Sept. 11 can be the "Columbine" for the Second Amendment. Now it's our turn. Let's use this horrific tragedy as a rallying point to educate the public why our Founding Fathers quantified self-protection as our God-given right.
How many times in the last few decades has our side withstood frontal assaults, sneak attacks and sniping from the gun-grabbers? We are so used to reacting that we forget to act.
In this war of attrition between good and evil over the Second Amendment, our side cannot advance if it stays in the trenches waiting for the left's next offensive.
If our game plan simply is to hold our ground, we will never reclaim the territory we had.
Thursday's column will offer a simple solution to help the government control those suspicious aliens.
I think that he is right on target on this issue.
"Sept. 11 can be the "Columbine" for the Second Amendment." says it all!
May I suggest that you all post good arguments for the second. Stuff that we can use in debating for gun rights. We must get over our reluctance to argue our position. Jim jimthornley@mindspring.com
PS: jim rob's server adds the *aterisk*, but I don't know why.
The info at that location will definitely be a big help in our defense of the 2nd amendment.
As one of our founding fathers said, "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the America people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." George Washington
Bob Dornan today was even contemplating martial law under such circumstances.
