Follow the logic; the liberals run the government school bureaucracy. Liberal Democrats do not approve of independent thinking or seeing through bulls..t. Critical thinking, civics, traditional history and so on are not on their list. ALL SCHOOLS SHOULD BE PRIVATE WITH TAX DEDUCTION FUNDINGS.

So we can point at ONE set of government policies which have been a great success.

So all you anti-gubmint 'freedomites' can just give it a rest!

(sarcasm off)

Since this was published in 1985, the author seems to have independently discovered the same hidden agenda that John Taylor Gatto wrote about in "Dumbing Us Down." According to the editor of the Education Liberator, Karp was not a separationist. Judging by his conclusion to this essay, I don't see how he could NOT advocate separation of school and state.

Wow! This is so horrifying that when I saw the "report abuse" button on the screen there was a moment when I thought, "That is exaclty what this is about." Good thing I thought about it before hitting it!

LOL, BTTT

I would have liked to see more response to this excellent article.
I for one would like to see the government school system disbanded, alas, the sheeple are too content. If they only knew (or cared) what goes on in the classrooms...

Which brings me to my point. Just as the daycare centers have "webcams" so should their be one in each classroom. Now before yall go off on me for a "big brother" lashing hear me out.
If parents and taxpayers could observe the classrooms - in action - and not the dog and pony show for parents night, you might *might* start an uproar on the sheep corral.

A thin edged sword to be sure, but what other weapon do we have?
Folks just will not take the time to study America's government education system.
