You can run against them. But, if you do you can forget ever getting a dime, an endorsement, a campaign effort, or traditional Republican donors for your campaign - EVER! Unless, of course you're a movie star or Trent Lott. Then the discipline doesn't apply.
The Simon Campaign just became the most important campaign in the country!
All you good Freepers over there. You go get in line!

The double standard is staggering. If you're a conservative and criticize the party, you're a devisive traitor.
If you're a Rino, you can withhold support---undermine the party with impunity.
Not a good day for grassroots conservatism in the GOP.
The thoughts I am thinking about the "conservative leaderership" in this country can't be printed. It was much more important to be academically sound than politically sound.
What a crock!

And the party hacks here at FR won't step up and crow, but it was their side that triumphed.
Thanks for posting this, Shrew.
One final note. We can beat this at the polls, if we stay the course. But that demands something bigger than mindless loyalty. Time will tell.
Cheers,
Richard F.
Sorry, but it is true.
Four or five years from now, if we do nothing, they'll all be staring stupidly at the defunct and Massachusetts-like GOP in CA and wondering what happened.
No one will remember that Brulte and his ilk did it this week, with Riordan and Rove silently cheering.
It's sad, but if we do nothing, it will come to pass.
For liberty, and never, never, for bootlicking,
Richard F.
Do you, or they, think this discounts their status as 'individual posters'?

Not at all ... let them step up and call this "Munich" a "Constitutional Convention."
Individual kneepads types are welcome ... more than welcome ... at FR now than ever, so far as I can make out.
It is just that this recent CA sell-out is more gross than even the usual sychophant crowd is willing to admit, so they'll likely just lurk for now.
And they'll probably take your name, and mine, down for future reference.
Ain't it great to be in league with these Catos! Their virute is outstanding ...and it's own reward.
Sorry to be so bitter, but it used to be the GOP in my native state.
Alas,
Richard F.
It is plain to see. The call to 'get in line' is a hard one to resist. No one sees that we barely won an election after spending $1 Billion dollars on the campaign. They herald those who survived as 'leaders'. They aren't they're just survivors.
Yet, in this time of crisis the call to 'get in line' is a compelling one. After all, 'if you're not with us you're with the terrorists'. No one could ever accuse us of that - but those accusations will happen. Gerald Parsky et al have what they want. Davis is emminently beatable. Riordan won't be able to do it. The Conservative side of the party will be blamed for the loss. Instead of refocusing on the cause and figuring out what is wrong the fingers of blame will be cast in our direction.
The petty tyranies meted out by subordinates will usurp the 'greater good' sought by those in power. Then, an election or two down the road the real tyranny will begin. And so it has been throughout the ages.

TS
Good luck to the grassrooters....y'all gonna need all the luck you can get....looks like the east coast and the west coast are gonna look alike!
Okay...here's what I originally posted...
"They need to look at it broadly and 'broadly' means advancing the Republican agenda in the state and not merely winning intraparty squabbles," said Mr. Morgan.
"Intraparty squabbles"?
There are some real bums trying to drag the GOP to the left because "we won't win otherwise".
Some big victory if the GOP actually becomes a near-clone of the Dems.
Negotiations with Mr. Steel over the changes were spearheaded by Los Angeles businessman Gerald L. Parsky and other members of the state party's board of directors who work closely with Mr. Bush and Karl Rove, the White House chief political strategist.
Mr. Steel is a good man...and a real conservative.
If Mr. Parsky is working to "negotiate" with Mr. Steel at the behest of insiders who work with the President and Mr. Rove...who actually proposed RICHARD RIORDAN as the GOP gubernatorial candidate. Doesn't sound like the President and Rove are too interested in what the GOP is supposed to represent traditionally. :-(
Part of the "new order" of the CA GOP:
Mr. Parsky and Senate Republican leader Jim Brulte were elected to a newly formed five-member Operations Committee, thus assuring that Mr. Bush's interests are represented in the California party, which now will be run by a full-time, paid chief operating officer chosen by the new committee. "The Operations Committee is what makes the difference under the new party structure," Mr. Brulte said. Mr. Brulte said that major donors, often more liberal than the party rank and file, have been ill-inclined to write checks to a party that seemed unable to recruit and train candidates, or identify and turn out voters.
Oh, and DOESN'T Senator Brulte, author of SB 950, KNOW how much it would cost if he didn't bend and sway...and grab his ankles?
Pffffffft!!
BTW...I'm a registered Republican.
For now.
**steamin' mad!!**
Enough California Republicans (like me) will NOT hold their noses for the likes of Tom Campbell...or Richard Riordan.
But AMEN to the pro-2A remark, hon!
BTW...did you see that Jim Brulte is part of the new order?
Brulte...author of SB 950?
Gads...
