Donors have right to specify where their money goes.

It is imperious for the Red Cross to steal the money for other purposes.

[Some for the DNC perhaps, too? ]

Background here

My wife's uncle had very little regard for the Red Cross during WWII...he said that the Salvation Army was better.

There are no words at my command to express my outrage over this wonton abuse of the public trust, and the despicable arrogance displayed by these greedy self serving animals. I will continue to donate blood to the ARC, but I will be dam%ed if they get one more cent from me or any money under my control.

This is criminal. I had a bad feeling from the beginning of the tragedy that this would happen. I've never trusted large corporate-type charities like Red Cross and United Way. They were shilling for money the second these attacks happened, and took advantage of the generosity of millions of good hearted Americans.

I think Ashcroft has another job for a couple of agents. Arrest the board of the RED CROSS for FRAUD.

Did she resign because the board did this? Or did the board make her resign because she did this?

This is so inaccurate. I watched the same show. Ted Koppel did a good job showing both sides. The money's not stolen, but your credibility sure is missing.

Sounds like time to FReep the Red Cross Board, until they buckel and direct the $do$re$me where it needs to go and where Americans want to go, and not a lot of other 'needy' places.

I wonder if they're spending the money on condom distribution for disaster victims again?

My dad, a retired state police officer, told me many years ago that the Red Cross was handing out condoms during the Johnstown flood as part of relief efforts.

He asked them why they were doing this, and they told him it was because people had lost their birth control in the flood.
Yoy!

Always wondered about the Red Cross after that.
I still think they do excellent work with their blood drives, I just don't think I'd willingly make a cash donation.

I think she was the one that wanted to include Israeli chapter of R.C. but the Arab pull stoped her so she stopped the flow of money to them. They were pissed. Now she resigned, o well, another cheat will step into her half million a year job. Yep they make money off your free blood. I truely distrust the Red Cross. They are crooked, wish another charity would take over their currupt scam game.

Within just a few days I started hearing about how the Red Cross was trying to decide which "services" the families of the victims needed. I knew, then, that they would keep most of the money. Liberals always know what's best for you.

These groups have become huge entities and require lots of money just to keep afloat, just like the federal government. Obviously, the greed overweighed good judgement. This was a very dumb decision and they deserve whatever backlash is coming their way.

IMO, There is not enough scrutiny and accountability. These organizations seem to be run by people who couldn't make it if they had a real job. Since the seventies, the major 501 C3's have been diverting funds to cousins in advertising, bimbos, and condos at Hilton Head. The best solution is not to contribute to any organization which allocates more than 15% to overhead.

Just wait until everyone who ran to give blood finds out that their blood was sold on the market for up to $280 per pint for research and international resale. Then the poop will hit the proverbial propeller again. Most of the "blood banks" are scams!

About two weeks after 911 I was playing golf with a couple guys in the Army and one of them was the first person I heard question where all the donations would end up going. I hadn't thought about it before then but, he was extremely skeptical.

It’s too bad he’s being proved correct.

I thought about donating money to the Red Cross, my dad told me not to even think about it.l

My late grandfather was a WWI hero. After a lengthy tour, his unit returned to friendly territory and there was the Red Cross, with fresh made ham sandwiches for the soldiers. He went to get one, and found that they werent giving them to the soldiers, they were selling them. He was totally disgusted. Later, still in Europe, coming back to friendly territory, he saw them again, this time with clean, fresh t-shirts. Think they would give them to the tire filthy soldiers? No f-----g way, for sale only.

Just a mile away, The Salvation Army had fresh, clean t-shirts too. As many as the soldiers wanted, for free. They get my money over the UW or the Red Cross, any day of the week. Unless I give it to FR of course...JFK

The Red Cross is going to have a lot of questions to answer to. If that money is not distibuted to the victims and their families, the next time they put their greedy little hands out the money will be very slow in coming. The article in the Washington Post just burns me.

Healy insisted on keeping the disaster relief funds separate from the rest of the Red Cross's contributions, and she refused for several weeks to cooperate with other groups' efforts to record how much relief individual families were receiving from the various Sept. 11 funds.

so in other words they collect but are not accountable to who recieves this money
